Mille 4th in Fast Bikes test

right here goes ,most on here are prob the same or similar to me ,I have had lighter faster bikes in the past but come on who give a flyin ***** about all that bollock unless of course you track your bike against the faster lighter stuff .

the aprilia is the one we are with now and to b honest i dont want anything else from a sports bike . the rest are bland and boring inc the new stuff imo.
every bike meet has a sea of blue and white ,green ,bla ba bla .... yawn !!!!!!!!!!! like it or not the aprilia's will always get the looks at meets because there aint rows and rows of em ...

the rsv is a big bike physically and has presence, so its heavier, so what, it smooths out the **** roads in uk ..

rant over ...........

Here here:biggrin

I just read that article too.

I'm in the market for an RSV and have found one on an '03 plate at a local dealer where there is also an '02 954 blade. I'm just waiting for the roads to dry so I can take 'em for a test ride and make up my mind.

To be honest the blade would be the best bike for me I think, but I'm gonna have to hate the RSV on the test ride not to buy it. I've got a twin itch that needs scratching! I think if I get the blade every time a twin goes past I'm gonna doubt my choice. Can't see me feeling that way if I'm sitting with an RSV when another IL4 goes by.

I bought my last bike with my head.

This time I think I'm gonna treat my heart for a change.

Oh and also . . . i've not felt inclined to join a fireblade forum yet!

why?

And next year another bike will be the fastest, another bike will be 2nd from last - and so we go on .....................................
Bikes keep selling because they are faster than last years! doesn't matter it you can't even use last years power or chassis to the full - folks are taken in by the stupid mags churning out the same old rubbish week in, week out.
My bro had an Ape, sold it for a GSXR750 because he was getting left behind on the straights on track days. He is now going to sell his GSXR and get an Ape again - why? well, that subjective thing - an Ape gets under your skin - he misses it! and he finds the GSXR bland and without character.
I have a 2000 'R' I love it, it is very well sorted and when mates use it they come back speechless -they love it. What is it that makes it special, the engine? the chassis? the balance? the sound? Well a bit of all four.
I ride to enjoy .... not to be quicker than last year - but to be as quick as I want to :thumbup

well summed up phil we ride to enjoy not to impress all the other latest fastest new gear and helmet robots who stand there with brand new stuff they cant ride to the potential it can deliver .i cant out ride my rsv so why go in search of excess ???

fair enough if you can but most cant otherwise we would be chasing rossi and co ...

sorry that really is rant over this time lol :biggrin

Well said mr init! I love the way my zx10r riding pal always runs down twins, and yet cant stay with me and my other fellow twinner on his edwards sp1. Always have a good tussle with him its like edwards and haga all over again! Can't beat his dismay at buying a brand spankin racefit pipe for the big ninja... only for it to be muted by the mighty twins :bounce

It's good that the mag never said it's number 1 and generated more interest as it keeps the Ape club nice and small down to select knowing bunch. :)

Especially as they don't make em any more - more for us to keep recycling. I've a spare Mille mothballed in the garage. lol

Don't want to see too many on the road......

Mark

Yep go to agree with all you guys ...

Ive had the Blades, GSXR1000, Kawasaki ZX's ect ect ... yes they are all very fast and lighter than the apes, Then i had a test ride on a 06 Demo RSVR ................... i came back with the biggest grin that iv'e ever had on a bike, It took me all of 2 minutes to decide to swap in my GSXR and buy a new RSVR . Yes i get the odd Blade, GSXR coming past me so WTF .........

personally i think the owning of a mille can be summed up thus:

"money cant buy you style, you have to be born with it"

:thumbup

It cost me bout three k to lose 24kgs! They all struggle to keep up til bout 150mph dont want an IL4 again, such bland pwr delibery, keeping mine and getting a rc8r as a new v- twin. apes r ace!!

LOL:devious

Lets face it, who cares what Performance bikes say. you but a bike because you like it.

I spent years wasting money on buying the next fastest bike, some were good, some were sort of OK, but in the end you can only use so much power and speed, chaps.

i've got a tuned and stripped Hayabusa, but just bought a 04 factory...because I like the bike and it handles beautifully.

I like yhe idea of a stripped busa matey howz it now?

...Spins the rear...in FIFTH!!!

I've got the rear jacked real high so at least it will go round a corner. It's like doing the cowboy with a bird (you know the one, where you are doing it and you call her fat or something and she tries to buck you off and you cry 'yee-ha' as you hold on for dear life)...its a bit like that.

I will never understand why people attach so much significance to mag tests, I make my living as a journo and you learn very fast to take these things with a big pich of salt.

Firstly, all used bike tests should be approached with extreme caution for reasons so obvious they don't need stating here.

Secondly, a track based test is irrelevant if you mainly ride on the road and vice versa.

Thirdly the myth of weight. On our ***** roads a bit of extra weight can sometimes be an advantage.

While I wouldn't read too much into these results I seriously disagree with the bloke who came out with the old 'IL4s are boring' routine. Can't we lay that myth to waste? We know what the RSVs strong points are, we know there are some cracking IL4s, everyone should just concentrate on trying to ride better. Its the rider who really makes the difference.

Re the SV thou: IMHO the little 650 was a better bike in every single respect. The thous I've ridden have not impressed me handling wise. If you want an SV thou buy a Raptor (or a Bimota lol).

yeah there are loads of em but they are not all boring. Sound wise I love the 09 R1s specially with Akras and y piece jobby sorted, plus anything which helps makes you quicker is not boring.......... how you getting on with the old Div btw? Theres a bloke round here tunes em up (and XJRs) bit of a yammy aircooled head ;)

I'd love to see a Div without plastic, plus pods, full ti system - just for a change :)
