when you have both, maybe you can work it out for oyurself. i've committed to try it on the advice of the guys i know who have and swear by it. like a challenge. be honset, it is an old design and an old under developed bike for the last x amount of years. every time i pass a k5/6/7/8 i will smile, but i know i'll be trying f***ing hard to do it on a standard bike.
brands hatch, fast group, on my own at the front, 20 laps at a time. you're right, i cant ride at all..............

sprocket... thanks for the warm welcome bud..:thumbup

milliekid... slow down there and take time to ask more question from baz before you thrown down the you cant ride:eek:
lots of guy struggle when they swap from a line4 to a twin its not an easy transaction if you ride fast and hard on a line4,
its like getting everything you know about riding and mixing it up a bit to get the same recipe..
the k5 can be very forgiving when ridden hard due to its set up and near perfect geometry..

baz.. i dont think milliekid was throwing the gauntlet just yet :nana, fast pack at brands i am impress, take your time to get to know your twin(no pun intended)and i dont think you will be going back to a in line 4,
yes you will gain from fine tuning on the shocks but i think you have a bit of time before you push the limits on stock set up in this weather, for now get the sag sorted and some of the guys may chime in with a good guy to set you up in your area:dunno,i wont surge st anyone just yet as everyone has there favorites guys...

Hey Rat
strangely, do like the bike although very, very different and nowhere near as capable as the K5 thou I traded. Love the idea of modding it to make it the bike it should be because the k5 was only really worth chaning cosmetically, love the v twin thump and the commotion it makes everywhere, amused by the massive amount of attention it gets compared to what i thought was a much better bike, and like the forums and commaradarie the mille generates. I am totally shocked by how slow i think i am going only to look down at the clocks and realise this bike is quick. that must be a twin thing, used to much more buzzy-ness.
cant wait to get it dialled in on the suspension and the tyres and throw it about with real abandon come summer. so far, so good.... can only see me going back for the v4

nowhere near as capable? is it you, you are on about? or the bike?(not meant in a nasty way just asking?)
if it is the bike ! it won masterbike in 2006 round jerez even the mighty zx10 couldnt keep up ? gsxr nowhere to be seen ... i watched last year at brands a guy called mark compton"the reaper" absolutley battering a brand new 1098 and a £30,000 tuned ducati999 on a standard factory. yes the duc had him on the straights just. then he overtook him everytime on a 113bhp at the rear wheel rsv factory (which is poor bhp at the rear wheel couldn't beleive it when he told us) i think the mille is very capable myself:thumbup

find the mille to be harder to get your knee down. Is it me, :dunno

lads
I am getting a bit worried about replying now, i seem to be getting beaten up a bit.:whipping
First I am accussed of being incapable, then it is suggested i am a liar. Think you lads must have been speaking to my wife!!!! :lol
(No Milliekid, I dont have any pictures of her that I want to post either....)

On the very first post, i suggested that it might be me. I also said that I had the bike over and knee down within 30 miles. I never said I cant, i asked politely, did other people find it harder than on other bikes. I guess the furore is over the comment about the K5 being more capable, straight out of the box and on the road in my limited experience of riding an RSV, it is. That is an opinion, not a fact.
I guess the rsvzone was a bad place to say nice things about other bikes, and didn't mean to detract anything from the RSV. To all offended parties, SORRY.
If it is the case that I am a s**t rider, you have my word, I will be trying harder...........

hey baz dont take it to heart, ive been lurking for ages and it happens with new meat:jack, reason i just read...

i agree with you about the k5 out the box but thses guys live and breath v twins and if you cut them v twin blood runs out...there like a stick of rock, shame you sold the k5 you could have took them on...:thumbup
stick with the twin and if you had your knee down without turing your toe:jack you aint doing bad at all for a new boy to twins, give her and yourself time to adjust to riding a v twin...it aint the same as in line4,s
hey and if the guys want some photos of your bike let them have some and lots would love to cream on the keyboard as the 07 is a sweet colour

ooh whats happening here guys :dunno we might all have an Aprilia but it doesn't mean we cant appreciate other bikes does it :confused...personally, I think the gixxer thou's are a beautiful bike, one of my workmates has a Stealth K6 with Yoshi's and gilles rearsets and if I ever decide to go back to INL4's again that would probably be my choice :eatcorn I'm certainly not the fastest rider out there and I didn't buy the RSV because of it's performance (my old cbr6 was plenty fast enough for me)...it was for it's looks and exclusivety. I know people like to defend their choice of bikes but sometimes, to me, it looks like it gets a bit too serious. Lighten up and enjoy the Twins while you have it :pirate

The K5 GSXR1000 won bike of the year in magazines all over the world, I suspect that it's a better bike for a majority of riders to just jump on and go fast. The RSV on other hand may be a more capable bike but it's a bike that takes time and dedication to use fully. Only my opinion of course, as someone who's dipping a toe in the Mille world.

Well said Sprocker.

Baz glad you've joined the Aprilia community. Good to hear your opinions on other bikes :thumbup. I'm a fan of the K5/k6 1000's too and i'm with sprocker, K6 Stealth with Yoshi would be my choice of IL4.

Just don't mention Hondas :devious

dammnn no wife pics:rant:lol

The reason for me going on the offensive is i hate gixxers sorry :devious
i do like japs kawaka's mainly:thumbup

anyway you will adapt to the mille when the sun starts to show it's face :thumbup

Put yer left toe out, yer left toe in, do the hokey cokey and get yer knee down, toe in, toe out, shake it all about:devious

You will bring yer feet back up flatter on the pegs to stop you grinding things to bits once you get some good corner speed

bring your elbow down badger and look below the screen it'l bring your top half down

Gaz, i just can't do it on this bike, whether it is my physique/tank shape i don't know, as you can see from the pic i am tight against the tank with my left arm, this seems to stop me getting my head round the side of the screen, there are a few riders who also seem to ride in that more upright position, Abe, Bayliss, Doohan are a few that spring to mind, not that i am comparing myself with them:hail

I read once that you are in a better position to save slides when riding with the upper half of your body more prone, it is easier to get back in the saddle or weight the pegs according to the slide.

Once i get out on the Factory this year it might allow me to get into that position as it has a smaller tank, we'll see:thumbup

Thats how im going to try it badger :yes:yes although i favour my right knee but i guess thats cos im right handed :dunno guess left handers prefer left knee :dunno Considering most roundabouts are right knee down ones thatll do me nicely :thumbup.
Those who are going france mite have a few problems on those left hand roundabouts though :lol:laugh

If you prefer twins to IL4's or V4's or wotever. I cant understand the fuss?:confused Personally I love the twin right now and would only chop my bike in for a newer Aprilia but I have owned lots of really good jap fours and only have good things to say about them. Not rode a K5 but had earlier Gixxers and they were a riot.:devious

Ok Mille, you got me buzzed :rant with the comments of my being incapable (water under the bridge) and "this post means nothing" messages, i couldn't help but post some gsxr knee down action. Not a great idea since the first post I accidentally put on some very incriminating gsxr action:eek: but hey, was inspired by all these pics of people scratching knees and elbows

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DsM8RT3M_xg

not great as I was on my way to a private road to do some top speed footage for a screen saver, as seen on you tube for the 30 seconds i was watching it before i realised what i had posted and learned very quickly how to take off. :banana
