As it says... are they worth it? asking because even after following all the advise of starting threads, she still is not firing, without opening the throttle fully with the choke on...(only left her sitting for the last week, and it wasn`t that cold:confused).

Even at this, it won't fire until i blow some hot air into the engine area ???

After that once she starts, she fine:confused

Its a 03 RSVR, just serviced, kept on charge 24/7, new battery, new Yam sol.

I love the bike except for this little problem....

Don't mind spending the money, as long as it might solve the problem.

Next question... which ones are the best, and whats the average price (GBP):thumbup

Thanks guys...

:thumbup Bike runs a lot better since i put them in mine, but i did service it ,bigger battery and yam sol.:biggrin

For that little bit of extra money they are worth every penny!
A deffo yes from me, they are the next generation in plugs.

It's worth noting that spark plugs can't increase the potential power that an engine can generate but a more efficient spark will provide more efficient combustion and associated performance and economy benefits.

A poor spark from a worn or low grade spark plug will reduce efficiency. An Iridium plug will produce a more efficient spark.

Just serviced and it won't start properly? If that was at a dealer, take it back!

Thanks Guys...

It'll start fine, once it been running for a while, or even left overnight... it just when it left for a few days or a week, there is a problem :dunno

I`ll upgrade the plugs and see if it makes a difference... The dealer who serviced it said the plugs were fine..... just trying to sort it out once and for all...... annoying:angry:angry

I must admit i thought that!

The symptomes youve explained sound that of something else, not plugs!

Theres a few on here that could help you im sure!

Mate. Take it back to the dealer and tell him it now wont start properly since its been serviced!

When you say the dealer said the plugs were fine do you mean he didnt change them? If he didnt do you know when they were last changed or the tolerence checked?

trickle charge your battery when not in use :thumbup

Hahahahahaha where do i start this is hilarious

What is it you find funny fella? Try putting some worth while input into this thread the bloke needs some advise, you know better then say so

from what your saying the spark does not effect the power output, read what you wrote again and have a think about it.... and iridium plugs last longer they where introduced through long life servicing and companies have jumped on the wagon saying there better and more efficient so they sell more of them trust me any increase you feel is all in your mind

plugs

The guy who did the servicing works on racing bikes alot... came well recommended... I`ll give him a call on Monday..... when you say it, its kind of the obvious step:thumbup

Thanks again for the feedback... to say i haven`t a clue would be a under statement :biggrin:biggrin

you think about what im saying! Im talking about the point it fires nothing else, im going back to real basics. A more efficent spark will provide more efficient combustion. Think about it!

which will in turn create more power.

and its called ignition timing, back to basics!

Ignition timing is mapped and set - thats it, no deviation unless something goes wrong.
Spark intensity depends upon coil output, HT lead quality, and good plugs.

The quality/condition of the components invoved in making this process happen determine the out come. If from the very start of the process things are efficent then everything else will follow in suit.

I thought iridium plugs were designed for racing as they dont fall apart like OEMones?

ps Not that I have a fecking clue its only what i read on the interweb

Heres something off Wikipedia thats interesting -
A CDI system has a short charging time, a fast voltage rise (between 3 ~ 10 kV/μs) compared to typical inductive systems (300 ~ 500 V/μs) and a short spark duration limited to about 50-80 µs. The fast voltage rise makes CDI systems insensitive to shunt resistance, but the limited spark duration can for some applications be too short to provide reliable ignition. The insensitivity to shunt resistance and the ability to fire multiple sparks can provide improved cold starting ability.
