Hi, this is my first time, so please be gentle. I have just bought a 2004 Mille R and my insurance company has asked for a certificate to prove that I have an immobilisor on the bike. Does anyone know how or where I would be able to get such a thing. I have never been asked to do this before on any other bike. your help would be much appreciated.
Also, I have found the rear brake to be a little spongy to say the least. any ideas on this one too.

The immobilisor has no Thatcham certification so there is no certificate i'm afraid.

Rear brake is just something you will have to put up with unless you buy rearsets and relocate the M/C.

Sometimes bleeding can help or hanging weights off the pedal but really only temporary cures.

If that's a new shape, didn't they have immobs as standard? If so, just tell them it's standard equipment and to refer to the manufacturer. If it's an old shape and an aftermarket immobiliser, then you're better off having it removed (by someone who knows what they're doing mind!) as it's bound to cause you electrical problems sooner or later.
Oh, and Welcome, BTW.:thumbup

It's a new shape bike which has a Zardi Immobilisor but Aprilia wouldn't pay the £'s to have it UK approved by thatcham so it has no UK insurance certification but most insurance companies will have taken that into account if they know what their talking about.

My Ducati has a similar immobilisor without Thatcham certification and i had no problem neither did i with my Aprilia. All the big companies know what it comes with from the factory.

Hi, yes it is the new shape. I will tell my insurance company what you have told me. I pay enough to them so they can earn their money. Thanks for the the info and the welcome and I hope to post more threads in the future.

Thanks for all the info. After I told my insurance they have decided to charge me an extra £17 because it is factory fitted!! Had the bike 2 weeks now, why have I waited so long!!! Absolute darling to ride. Sorry, but it pi%%es on all the 4 stokes I've had.
