Guides If you have trouble getting in neutral

How To Guides
I've also recently replaced the jet in my 1999 mille, big difference, especially from cold, however also replaced the fluid with the brembo racing stuff (liquid gold is cheaper I believe!!) and bled it really well, new clutch kit (stock) and oil. But, I replaced the jet after I road tested the new clutch just to see the what the fuss is all about....Its a different bike !!! hope you have the same !

I changed it also, my bike stayed the same :D

But finding neutral when cold is normal now and the bike doesnt pull foward anymore when cold, so its good. Also changed the oil from full synth to semi, so dont know whats responsible for the change.

Shifting feels the same, not realy a fan of aprilia gearbox, its good, but its not great, like ducatis. And i managed to get it out of gear once, probably got a bit rusty offseason (me, not the bike :D), I just dont know why they put neutral betwen 4th and 5th gear :)

£5 for part and £26 delivery not a chance!!! cheaper to fly over and collect myself

been looking at doing this as my bikes a nightmare to get into netral from cold,

but, i read that the jet was reduced from a 60 to a 40 as time went on, with my bike being a 2004 tuono, is it likely to have the smaller 40 jet fitted already?

Ive just changed mine now. Not had chance to try it as i am STILL waiting for my new Immobiliser ECU (only been a month so far) so cant start to check... Been a fault on my bike for months now so im hoping its worth waiting for....

However, i found it a good ide to use a strand off a wire brush to fish the valve out of the engine casing. Held with a thin pair of long nose pliers it was nice n easy.......

Hey Guys

Let me throw a spanner in the theory.

I run a heavy duty barnett clutch in my 2000 RSV, instantly after installing I could no longer shift into neutral at stop. I MUST now shift into neutral whilst rolling to s stop.

I installed the JET40, and can positively state that this had NO effect on helping it get into neutral whilst still. Maybe its a good mod only if using the OEM clutch kit??

Cheers

richmond dont worry about the oil seepage its normal ,you will also get a bit more when you remove the .60 jet its tiny so use a small flat screwdriver, with a bit of fiddling you'll get the other one in do it up hand tight replace the bolt and enjoy finding neutral ...if its still hard then bleed your clutch ,another good mod would be a 15tooth sprocket on the front [oh my god its a friggin missile lol] this will make it smoother in town and OH MY GOD THIS PULLS LIKE A TRAIN acceleration enjoy

Modification....Jet 40 and Oberon clutch slave cylinder....wow...amazed...
After reading this thread i had to do the mod...I have a 2002 rsvr and the heavy clutch and neutral problem was a pain but now its fantastic, the clutch feels 50% lighter and neutral is absolutely easy to find.
Got the parts here: Jet 40 http://www.speedaway.co.uk/online/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=104&products_id=41337

Clutch slave cylinder from oberon: http://www.oberon-performance.co.uk/acatalog/Aprilia_Clutch_Slave_Cylinder.html

Specially for 04/05 rsv owners

Order this part.......Genuine Aprilia Jet 40 .... part number 0268751 ........no 10 on the list

I fitted it today, all you do is remove a bolt just above the oil filter cover, uncsrew the old jet 60 and remove with a small pair of pin nose pliers

WOW....what a difference.....its worth the £6.03

Carriage is £6 to so i ordered the heat shield for the rear brake

Both items are standard on the 06 and onwards models

Same result for me...when i bought the bike the first thing I did was buy one of the 40 jets and installed it....AND!!!

....it made no bloody difference, and this is with the OEM clutch in my bike...seems this is a hit and miss modification...
