Hi guys

Just part exed my K4 Gixxer1000 for 06 Tuono, picking it up tomorrow morning. Big decision for me, having big 4's for the last 20 years, fancied something to put the smile back on my face and slow me down on the road. Had a 30 minute test ride which was enough to convince me the way to go. Bike is standard apart from crash bungs, and is the very one that was tested in Ride magazine this month!

Looking forward to getting out on it and getting the v-twin grin!

Any thoughts on the best cans for it, I have seen some Aprilia/Akrapovics?

I'll keep you posted

cheers

Hi Mate welcome to the funny farm! having gone from Gixxers to Tuonos myself, you are in for a blast.. It do take a little time to adjust from 4s to 2s, but stick at it and the grin wont end..
Most of us seem to run Akrops as they seem to squezze the best out of the T.
I do a lot of riding round the Cambs/Suffolk area sos maybe I'll run in to ya.

Loud cans Dazzza, that will do nicely
Have a ball, been on a twin now for 5 years and haven't looked back

I find the Acras too quiet, Arrow ae usually a bit louder, or core your standards (see how to section :))

Cheers guys, picked it up today and blasted round this afternoon to make the most of my day off work. I think I'm going to have lots of fun with it! Suspension feels harsh on the bumpy back roads out here so I'll have a play with that later, and the standard cans are a bit quiet!
Called in at a local bike meet this evening and mine was the only Tuono amongst a sea of sportbikes, guess which bike got the most attention!!

congrats on the new purchase :cheers post some picts when you can. :worthless

Good work Dazzza welcome to the circus!
I went with Akro single system & could not be happier but there is a plethora of mods on the market so go sick....
Took me a few hundred Klms to get comfy with the T after selling my Blackbird. The big bird is much faster but no heart - no charisma - does not handle near as good as the T once you get comfy.... Cheers and go have some fun...

Anybody have much experience with the cored standards? I bet they are LOUD!
Presumably any change in can will require a power commander as per Jap 4's?
Cheers

I had a set of cored cans, I only paid £70 for them, yes they were load, there is a map 2 you can get your dealer to stitch to to improve fuelling once you change your cans :thumbup

Hi there, picked my brand new Factory up today having sold the Gixxer 1000 K7.

First impressions as per yours, huge grin factor, great noise - I have the twin Akrapovics with baffles removed - but like you found the suspension far to hard and stiff for bumpy backroads.

Anyone played about with suspesion settings on the Ohlins suspenders?
