Don't normally do girly but help

so for the sprag you will need

1. Fresh Oil
2. Fresh Oil Filter
3. Gasket
4. Breaker Bar (the longer the better)
5. Flywheel puller
6. Heat source
7. 14mm 1/2inch hex key
8. Container for old oil
9. Cable ties
10. Torque wrench
11. The 2 types of loctite
12. Vernier calipers

13. The sprag clutch
14. The sprag bearing
15. The sprag gear if out of tolerance

16. Jubilee clips to replace the circlips you will need to cut off
17. Possibly oil cooler mounting posts as these tend to fail
18. Crank locking tool

You can use a BMW sprag clutch, the Aprilia sprag bearing or Ducati and the Aprilia sprag gear (if out of toerance)

ooops obviously other "standard tool"

I'm going back up to chelmsford tonight where the bike is so I shall be doing work on it tomorrow first thing i'm going to do is change the battery and the solanoid that bit should be easy but I need some advice on doing the sprag where to get the bits and how to get the old one off, can't afford to take it to a mechanic.

Don't go for it being the sprag straight away after the battery and solenoid Millemille. Take Kiwi up on his offer and speak to Griff. It will be alot of work and expense to replace the sprag clutch to repeat the situation all over again, which is potentially what has already happened. The sprags aren't that fragile, they take a lot of abuse to make them fail, and whilst it's possible the one in the edwards engine has taken some abuse in it's life, the clue to me is that it was starting and running on Sunday and you haven't said that the bike sounds like someone has thrown a bucket of metal in a washing machine when trying to start, you've just said that it won't catch.

The fuel sensor you are talking about, is it the tilt switch? :dunno

Good luck :thumbup

I concur :thumbup

Not at the moment hopefully there is an end in sight tho kiwi poped in today and hopefully the sprag may have been saved after takeing a big lump out of very loose spring it may not last forever but hopefully it will last long enough for me to save up some money to sort it properly next job will take place monday when I replace the battery and spark plugs i'll keep you posted as to whether it'll start fingers crossed.

It lives well sort of, from here on in the bike will be known as mutley as its a complete mongrawl kiwi has been over at our place and done a fantastic job of getting it running theres still a few things to sort including putting a new front brake lever on as my old one is broken very scarey as I have been rideing it like this also need to track down some ht caps as a couple of mine are a little past there best but there is a light at the end of tunnel hopefully a couple more days and i'll be back on the road. Big thanks again scott (kiwi)

Don't know if you saw my thread on levers, I have just replaced my levers as my cheapo Ebay clutch lever fractured. I have what looks like a genuine Aprilia front brake lever (Non radial) you can have.

PM me your name and address if you want it and I'll stick it in the post for you. :thumbup

Right little tip guys when you take the side case of to repair the sprag don't just put the old gasket back on put gasket seal on as well other wise you end up with a bike covered in oil lol.:)

You must be thinking by now that I dont like you (or Kevin's increased your life insurance without telling you).:dunno

I remember cleaning the gasket and thinking it was quite wet and would the hylomar stick , not sure what happened next.:eatcorn
