Does anyone have a 07 mille on here? Do they find the rear view mirrors do not adjust all the way upwards and have to bend downwards to see behind you? If so how have you all got around it. Can the mirror be taken off and the backing adjusted in some way to move forward at the top?

Its not just the 07 mate, 04 onwards are all like that and pre 04 aint alot better, i believe you can buy a nlock for want of a better word that you put under the stem to lift the complete mirror up, someone whos done it will be along to tell you where to get it from :thumbup

Got the extenders on mine..They make a slight difference but still got to waggle your arms around to find a spot to see what's (cops) behind..

Mirror extenders or aftermarket mirrors are a solution. You can also accept their crappy ways... :D

Got mirror extenders on mine & a lot better ,,,,,,,,,, got them from sw motech website £48

I never thought about the mirrors while testing the Sh@t out of my bike before buying it, and afterwards I picked up the same problem and it is a pain when in traffic.

I contacted a dealer or two here in S.A. there reply was it is a race bike why do you even want mirrors on it.

:dunno Maybe because some guys drive there bike and dont just stock them in a show room.

Good luck with your search, I have learned to duck down to view the mirrors thought it pisses the misses of cause she gets an unsuspected amount of wind force every time.

Cheers

I can't see a fkn thing out of mine. Partly cos I is wide, admittedly, but mainly cos some knob has replaced the glass in the right-hand mirror with a bloomin' magnifying glass. I can'tsee what's up my arse, but I can see what's going on two miles back:banghead:banghead

I have an 07 and i have the same problem. To be fair though it is not just confined to RSV's. I have found the problem to be common place in loads of other makes and models also, especially if it is a sports bike.I'm so used to lifting my arm and lowering my head slightly that i'm used to it and it doesn't bother me.

I've got a pair of mirror extenders but i didn't like them when they were fitted so they're just sitting in a draw in the garage. I'll probably flog them on here or on the bay soon.(funds towards my new sexy levers)

Old shape milles can be mounted with RS125 2008/9 mirrors (if i recall right) same design, but longer arm and better view.

Did it to mine and i can see what is happening behind me... Also posted a thread with more info.

I've an 04 and have asked the same question . Can the view be raised , as the glass won't go any more .. No solution so far ..

When in traffic commuting they're damn dangerous ..

I wonder could the glass be taken out and the mechanism behind altered to allow more movement ?

Like the passenger pegs, the mirrors are just there for decoration.
I put a couple of washers under the rear bolt to try tilting them up a little - Didn't work. The next step is to take a grinder to the insides...

I remember smebody on the AF1 forum successfully mounting some aftermarket mirrors.
He is very happy with them (he says... :D )

Got mine from a guy goes under the username bubseywoo, do a search on some of the aprilia sites, price of £28 plus P&P, that was a couple of years back though.

They work a treat and fit well and look like they are meant to be there, some pics

Gary probably had so much abuse over his stands that he's decide not bother any more. :dunno

He wasn't the easiest of people to track down before. If you're stuck pm me,I may have his contact details still.

I had the same problem with on my '06 RSV-R, the mirrors wouldn't adjust upwards enough. I also found that they weren't wide enough on the bike. I tried Motech extenders. They didn't work for me, they extended the mirrors upwards more than outwards and didn't help with the upward tilt problem. I placed 3 1mm (thick) repair washers between the rear mirror bolt and the (fairing) mirror. This sorted the upward tilt problem, so I then made a plastic wedge to fit under the mirrors to replace the washers. This still left me with the width problem. I finally decided to cure both problems by fitting mirrors from a 2008-2014 Honda Fireblade.
The results are excellent.
