Hi Guys,
It's been one year now since I started using my 04 RSV Fact. During this period I had spend loads of time in the workshop figuring out stuffs on how to fix these things permanently.
To save time for others, I decided to write it down here and share with the rest of the world. (Not sure if anyone wrote this before) so here I go.
Problem 1: Rear Brake
Solution 1: Upgrade to RSV4 rearset or Aftermarket rearsets which relocates the Master Cylinder away from the engine. Most of the feedbacks and comments says that the issue is cause by either Vibration or Engine heat or both.
Problem 2: Stator
Solution 2: Get your self an aftermarket stator (Ricks or ElectroSport), re-do the wiring again and solder the connections rather than twisting the cables.
Problem 3: Rectifier
Solution 3: Get yourself an aftermarket rectifier (Ricks). Ensure you solder the wire connections properly.
Problem 4: Fuel Pump
Solution 4: If ever your bike is jerking because of fuel starvation, try changing the fuel pump, other than the original which will cost a bomb, there are other alternatives. You just need to change the pump, not the whole system. a normal fuel pump will only cost around 30 usd. I changed mine to Walbro. Please note to look for pumps with simillar size or slighly shorter will also do. The filter needs to be cleaned. If the filter is worn out, bring to a car spare part shop and look for simillar ones. (NOTE: Even thou I suggest other items, original is still the safest course if you don't believe in trying. Choice is yours)
Problem 5: Hard clutch & Neutral Gear
Solution 5: There are a few solution to this issue, depending on how strong your hands are (refer below). hehehe
Solution 5a: Re-adjust the clutch lever position, this will help very much, make sure your last finger hits the ball on the clutch lever.
Solution 5b: Oil Jet 40, this will help ease to find "N" while on complete stop aside from that it does help abit to lighten the clutch pull.
Solution 5c: Clutch Slave Cylinder, this will even help ease the clutch pull futher.
Solution 5d: Last solution, trim the gear index washer (Not really recomended to do on your own)
Problem 6: Battery Drain
Solution 6: Make a battery cut off switch and place it under the rear seat, so if you plan to park your bike for more than 2 days, just switch it off
Problem 7: Better Charging
Solution 7: Upgrade battery terminal cables to bigger ones as the original ones are thin and breakable overtime. This will also improve charging by 0.1v-0.3v
Problem 8: Power Saving
Solution 8: Build extra power on and off switch for front headlights. This will conserve battery.
Problem 9: High Engine Tempreture
Solution 9: You can get the 65 Degree Celcius Thermostat and replace the original. This will help cool the engine before it gets warmer. Note, there are also feedbacks that our engine runs better in warm tempreture as such, I did not change mine.
Problem 10: Cam Chain Tensioner
Solution 10: Upgrade or manually do a Manual Cam Chain tensioner. Refer this thread for pics: http://apriliarsv.com/aprilia-rsvr/22944-looking-rsv-1000r-2004-manual-cam-chain-tensioner.html
Note:
- The above is based on my experience and recommendations in the forums. If you have better suggestions and recommendations please do share & I will post it up in the 1st page.
- The above is what I believe to be the common issue on the RSV.
