got it all back together, hooray! starter clutch buggered boo hoo! not a problem. before it finally gave up the beast started my god! i am more used to jap multis but the sound of this thing is somethin else! so new sprag clutch required best and cheapest options? cheers everyone:thumbup:thumbup

Cheapest option appears to be the BMW option, and reversing the direction - search BMW sprag here for a guide (I think).

Also worth searching other sprag guides on here. For removal you will need a flywheel puller (Aprilia specific part) but some kind souls on here have offered to lend them before, a source of some heat to "de-loctite", breaker bar.

Be sure you know what you're doing before you do it, otherwise you are asking for serious engine probs if you put it back together incorrectly.

By the way you speak ref. the block connectors between the cylinders, how competent a mechanic are you - not an accusation, just a genuine question for you to answer yourself as removal of the tank and airbox would see access to the block connector in approx 5 mins. :dunno

got it back in, well a mate did smaller hands then me but did end up taking the air box off.
no probs getting the fly wheel of though, couple of mins with a blowtorch good prybar and hey presto! no puller required
