Alternator - again

M&p list 2 stators for the tuono, you need part no esg999, I ordered the wrong one first time, and even though I'd opened the box and the bag inside they were happy to refund and supply the right part.:thumbup

Hi Sheep, the part number for the item I have is ESG 919 and as I say it is supposed to be compatible with Tuono 1000R 2006 to 2010 according to M&P listing, the other one they have is listed as being for 2007 only which does appear from the pictures to have a longer lead, apart from that I think it is the same stator , so something is wrong with their information somewhere, I will contact them at some stage to address this issue, at the moment I just want to get back on the road. I have soldered some extensions on to the wires and will try to re-use the crimp connectors from the brown plug - which I have dis-assembled - tomorrow, all being well I should be up and running before the weekend. What a ball ache, good job it's the best bike I've ever ridden :bigsmile

Just to update on the stator, I managed to uncrimp the connectors from the new plug and re-crimp them onto my extended leads, I also soldered them to be sure, I have re-assembled everything and run the bike and everything seems OK, I am getting 14.5 volts at the battery with the engine running, I will also check the AC voltage from the alternator when I have an extra pair of hands to hold the throttle at 4k rpm.
I contacted M&P last week through Ebay messages to explain the problem and told them politely that they are listing an item that isn't suitable for the bikes on their compatibility list, I have received a reply today thanking me for letting them know and saying that they have forwarded my findings to their Ebay listing department. Hopefully they will get it amended and prevent anyone else getting caught out in future.
So I just need to get an MOT on it and get some miles in and see how it goes, I will also try and source a Mosfet reg/rec, they do them at M&P but the ones listed are for the 1st Gen models going off the years given, so I'll have to look elsewhere.
Many thanks to all of you that have given advice and guidance.
