Advanced Training S-SW

Just thought of something - we seem to have the south and west covered, I'm in Bedford, but as I said before, I'm prepared to travel. You could just PM your nearest volunteer. It was just that I'm self employed and can juggle my time fairly easily that I'm putting myself forward for distance travelling.

Ian. Cant comment about ROSPA. But I did check with the wife & she doesnt know of a time limit to take the test at all. As for observers, they are as wide a breed as bikers themselves, so have different ideas, opinions & levels. However the final goal is the same. During my "guidance" I was told conflicting methods, had some really good observers & some that Iv never bothered to ride with again. But it did make me think a little more & understand what they meant.

In my 8 years of riding (my 1st Christmas pres from the now wife was to take my bike test), I have only ridden with advanced riders. We regularly take a few trips to mainland Europe & have just come back from the Pyrenees (on the RC8) with a few of our mates (11).

So I feel sorry for the guys I meet who only ride their bikes for a couple of hours on a sunday on their lonesome whilst putting IAM achievers down.

+1 on the last bit :thumbup Once you've ridden with advanced riders it all seems so frantic somehow riding with others without any training.

It's something I'd recommend to any rider, although some of my mates say ' I've been riding since the 60's there's nothing anyone can teach me ' and ' I went with an advanced rider for a tryout, and I left him for dead on that back road '

Both opinions wrong and totally missing the point. :jack

However I don't think me turning up in leathers riding a sports bike went down too well with the majority of the Sam Brown + reflecting jacket wearing BMW & 'sensible bike' types that seemed to make up the majority.LOL

Think they'd be horrified if I turned up on the Mille sans DB killer .:puke

At Northampton we get a different observer most weeks. I was asked "What on earth possesed you to buy that?" when I had an observed ride with an observer I hadn't ridden with before...
We've got two R1's, an R6 and a 996 and my RSV togo with the usual touring beemers.

I have to say though, the response on here to advanced training, either through the IAM or other trainers seems markedly different from the MCN forums where any mention brings up the usual "I've been riding for..." and "pipe and slippers beardies..."

OK, so who is kindly volunteeering to take us out for some training with riders from Dorset/Wiltshire/South/SW/ area?
PS. Weather looking OK for tomorrow or is that too short notice? I'll have to see if I can get a exit pass as the wife's working.

Shame that Ian, As I said earlier, some groups are like that. In our group (Milton Keynes) most of the bikes are supersports and no-one bats an eyelid at loud pipes. The only time anyone wears a sam brown is when they're going for their test and they're trying to impress the examiner.

Now you've just called my bluff. Wifey has already given me my orders for tomorrow. I can make it down there on Sunday if that's any good for you?

Don't worry Bob, it's just that the times when I can actually get out on my bike and the weather being OK are few and far between. Think I've got orders for Sunday. We'll get it together sometime:thumbup
