Right here goes, any chance of a couple of sensible replies before the abuse starts :)

If i rode a fist gen tuono and then got on a second gen what would be the main diferences other than styling ?

I haven't ridden a Gen2 but by the looks of it the Gen1 would potentially be better on trips? The front screen is bigger, I am showing bias here but for a "Naked" bike I don't have any wind issues on mine.

From my experience the main differences are the 1st gen. has more low down talk and the 2nd gen. is less economical on fuel, both are great bikes but if you are new to V twins the 2nd gen rides more like a inline 4 but if you want the true V twin experience the 1st gen. is the baby. The Tuono is born of the Mille so is a sports bike in wolfs clothing so handles like no other naked and I think both incarnations are equal, I think if you buy either you won't be disappointed.

Don't take this as abuse mucker but ffs man up and make the call yersell.

If yer do then yer be a man who can wipe his own arse, and be proud of it.

If you like both..... then ride both before you buy anything. We all have opinions, but what is right for one, may not be right for you. Its your dosh, so try before you buy !
:)

Eh? **** me I've been riding a UJM around for the past year and didn't realise it!

True that gen 1s have a little more low down grunt, and no offence oggy but as for gen 2's riding like Jap IL4's? :megaphone I don't think so :gixxer pikeman said this was a serious one... :lol :lol

If you have an opinion on the diferences tell pikeman he was the one who asked, I gave mine and although in your opinion the 2nd doesn't ride more like a inl4 in mine it does, much smoother and no where near as raw. Thanks for your comments on my reply but as I say it's pikeman who is asking.

pikeman, give me your phone number and I'll tell you in private that in my opinion the gen 2's in no way, shape or form ride like Jap IL4's cos apparently this isn't a public forum anymore.

Touchy!

boys, there only wan way tae sort it oot

SQUARE GO YA BAS!

Pit yer hand bags away cheils and P min, ye set yer sel up fur the "banter in yer openin line.

An a got tae agree wi Spark dude, ma gen 2 is **** all like a in line 4. Jist the engine brakin alone should tell ye this fur example...

You need to ride both to feel the difference bud.
I've had numerous in line 4's and now have a gen 2, and they are buga all alike. No in line 4 has the low down grunt of a V twin - end of.

Really wouldn't classify my Gen 1 racing the same as other Gen 1's due to all the carbon, brakes and wheels but what I will say is how fecking low did Aprilia think they could put the speedo and rev counter.

Saying that though when I bought mine Pikeman found the bike I wanted and bought it. Didn't take a Gen 2 for a test drive. Sometimes you can spend too much time thinking about things and not make a decision. The jury's out on gen 1's and gen 2's. I prefer the taller screen but like I said the racing model I have is on a par with the Gen 2's for looks and has better suspension than some Gen 2's as its a Factory Version essentially with all the good bits on.

Find a nice well looked after bike and go for it. I think Batfastards is a real nice looker although in the pic looked like it had been lowered but that could have been because it was on gravel and had a full bottom belly pan on.

;)

Gen I's vs. Gen II's ? there's **** all difference...it's the colour that's important :yes

gen 1 racing for me!!! the delivery of the power is more aggressive than the gen 2, but down at the top end!

the difference is marked between the gen 1 and gen 2, but the gen 2 can give the sensation of being a little more japanesy (made up word!) as its a little more refined than the gen 1 , the engine management and engine are all completely different so its horses for courses!!

Try em both man and tell us which one you prefer!! easy!!

What is the difference in the engines? I know the Gen 2 makes a bit more power and the Gen 1 has a rawer feel to it but i didn't realise the engines were quite so different.

Does the Gen 1 engine seem more robust to you, Fusebox? You are probably aware of my problems with my Factory but i would love another Aprilia one day, maybe a Gen 1 Tuono, Mille or a Falco.

the difference are many mate!

gen 1 twin plug hed, gen 2 single plug head.

Gen 1 smaller valves, gen2 bigger valves

gen1, the 8 bit ecu gets reading every 60 degrees of crank rotation, gen 2, every 10 degrees of crank rotation with a 32 bit processor! more intricate map to plot against therefor smoother performance!

hence

the older ones feel a little more raw!!

sorry dude im struggling to remember the problem with your bike??

Griff
