Good rideout today making the best of the weather. Decided to show Gilo the delights of the Lower Chapel / Upper chapel road from Brecon for nice breccie to be had in Crossgates. Met stix and his maye in brecon and headed off. Nice twisty roads no coppers but a few sheep running out in front of us due to the thundering twins scaring the living daylights out of them.

After breccie headed off up the lovely road to Newtown. What an awesome road. Gilo headed off and managed to get past a few cars while I followed and for stuck behind it seems most of them. Twists and turns galore and we headed off roasted craven arms and Ludlow. Gilo leads the way and waits for us just before Ludlow. As we pass him parked on the side of the road headed off down the Ludlow bypass onto Leominster. Not a huge distance but looking in my mirrors no sight nor sound of gilo so stopped off had a good chat to Stix and roly in the Layby where we'd parked to wait for him. 10 mins pass and he can't be that far behind so text sent saying where are you. "lost in ludlow" came the reply. Passed on where we were waiting and 10 mins later here he comes thundering down the road mivv pipes breathing fire as he pulls into the Layby.

After shirt discussion we decide we might need petrol by Abergavenny so gilo says he's not going to call in for a cuppa as he's gonna head straight back to Bristol after filling up. Anyway off we go and gilo heads out leading the pack. I decided I just wanted a chilled out ride back through Hereford and onto Aber. Well as chilled out as we can be ;). Anyway Stix roly and me head into aber at half two. 6 hours of riding big grin on the face and awesome roads with Gilo probably already in Bristol.

Maybe not though. 45 mins later message of gilo saying he'd gone the wrong way and had ended up taking a little detour. Still he'd done extra nice roads and we all had weather we can only dream about every time we go out. Bring it on. Cheers guys really enjoyed my day.

seams your a day a head of us you haven't got Euro lotto numbers have you?

Told you crossgate to newtown was good didn't i

im off to wales friday....back monday i expect it will be wet doh lol

**** bay you do that on your iPhone ;)

Yes that roads defo the best yet. Gilo on today's evidence you can take over the mantle of the forums worst navigators from me & Roly :)

Chilled out ride - **** don't want to be following you when you're going for it :eek

Oh and Gilo as I seemed to have a good view today of the three of you as spent most of the day tailgun Charlie you & bay share top spot for craziest overtake followed by Roly & then me :)

Cracking ride today chaps. 270 miles for me, neck was a tad sore from the windblast when I got back but the lashings of booze are helping there :thumbup

Had intended to be home for 2.30pm as I'd told the missus I'd pick the kids up from school, so cracked on to Hereford to fill up (again...). Overshot the petrol station and saw a sign for Brecon so figured that was the way home. Hmmmm maybe not.. Phoned the missus to say I'd be back late, expecting an earbashing, but she was fine with it - result!

Stopped off at Aber tea hut for a cuppa and figured (rightly) that you guys would have been and gone. Gave the T a proper ragging down the Usk Rd and got home for 4.00pm.

Had to drop the missus into town as she's out on the lash tonight, got home and for some bizzarre reason decided to wash both cars (T still covered in 3,526 Welsh insects). To reward myself for my hard work and altruistic stance I have been necking booze ever since. Hurrah!

I'm fine with navigating......until I hit an unknown town, then it all looks the same. As I circumnavigated Ludlow yet again I (think) I went the wrong way down a one way street and ended up in a load of roads closed for a big funfair. Weaved my way through stacks of fair-goers making lots of noise and getting evil glares in return :biggrin

No scary overtakes here - may look different from behind mind The Tuono is the best and easiest overtaking bike I have ever had. Think vaguely about overtaking a line of vehicles in front, slight twist of the wrist, and roaaaar, oh, we're past! Hence I use that ability regularly :thumbup

I thought I was pretty good at navigating also until...well you all know the rest!

I get what you say about overtaking. Did look well dodgy from where I was as did bays bus overtake but I suppose we each have our own ideas what's safe & different views ahead etc.

I've always thought before overtaking whether in car or bike - 'what if I'm coming the other way' & quite often that makes me more patient. I'm not in a huge rush think I've mellowed with age :thumbup

I get frustrated with myself 'cos I often hold back from overtakes that would be fine as I like to be 110% sure it's safe before committing. However I'm also an impatient bastard and can't be doing with anything getting in my way and slowing me down so like to get past as soon as possible.

What looks (and is) perfectly safe from the saddle often looks the opposite from another angle.

I have to say you didn't seem to be hanging back today!!

Don't think I would have kept up with you even if I'd have been right behind you today. I spent most of today either 4th behind Roly (who's just getting back into biking so is quite cautious in the twisties) or third making sure that I didn't loose Roly behind me. But that's fine I'm easy. Slow/fast not really bothered but I won't do mental oriental.

Hey yeah I did use the iPhone. Awful spelling and it makes up words for u. Good piece of kit but not as good as the laptop for typing. My mother would be ashamed of that seeing as she used to be a teacher. I think I'll post next time written with iPhone then you lot can kinda read it like using a sat nav. Use a bit of common sense when looking at it and don't follow everything to the letter.

Anyway posting from iPhone again so here goes.

That bus overtake was a bit of a **** overtake but not quite as dangerous as it looked. I'd committed then just wound the throttle open when I saw the car coming. Had to stop straight away then as gilo was parked on the side. Bus driver prob thought what a knob as I'd have done if another biker had done that to me.

Bit like you I think what if someone is riding like me coming the other way which is why I hold back sometimes. As for roly he might be a bit slower in the corners than me but he doesn't hold back on overtakes. When I followed him hebrokeinto corners I wouldn't have braked going into and ended up with me catching up with him and braking a bit as well but nothing too worrying. He's a good enough rider and none of us are Rossi. Maybe he thinks too much about what others are thinking about his riding behind him hencetge reason he called me on. If I'd wanted to get past him though I'd have overtaken and am happy enough sitting back and taking it easy. Sometimes when ure haring along u miss such great countryside.

Well that is if u can see it through the flies. Godammit I hit a few big uns today. Like fecking missiles they are and bloody hurt. Got a massive stone chucked up following roly which hit me well and truly on the visor or helmet. Must check that tomorrow as it made heck of a rattle.

I use an iPhone too and have to go back over it to change stuff every post!

Yes Roly is pretty good but yes he brakes more than we do. No we are not rossis especially me. I'm ok most of the time but every ride I make mistakes. I run wide, I turn in too quickly on occasion etc etc.

The worst people I have seen recently are riders on GSXRs and milles. It's like a look how hard I am competition. ******* idiots.

Oh and I was too nackered last night to wash bike, jacket and especially lid. Jesus fly city yesterday!!

My bike still looks pretty clean all over apart from rear wheel splattered with oil and flys on the front. There were absolutely loads of flys werent there.

Have to say I think I'll be giving the Llandovery road a miss now as much prefer that route we did today. That crossgates to Newtown road must have been designed with bikes in mind. Nicest road by far around these parts and the tarmac was smoothe as a babies bum.

Still not checked my helmet for that stone hit yet. roly might be owing me a new one lol

The front of my bike is one big insect graveyard. I cleaned my jacket yesterday but havn't got round to doing my lid yet.

I agree that route was a cracker (apart from the Ludlow and Hereford diversions...) - will deffo be off up to Newtown sooner rather than later, amazing bit of road :thumbup

I cleaned everything earlier and I have never spent so long cleaning a lid or jacket. Textile is flipping hard work cleaning and I had a wonderful collection of different colour splat on my lid.

And yes again thats the best road in Wales I have done. Apart from a very scenic quite narrow road in west Wales over the top of a mountain.....:)

I've still not looked at mine. Seemed to have quite a few bugs on the visor at Ludlow but might get rid of that visor and get a pinlock in my original one instead. Those iridiums scratchlike ****
