Hi guys i was heading to work the other day dropped onto motorway openned the bike up and it just died and ecu with a plug symbol came on the screen after pulling over and turning the ignition on and of and reseting the alarm a few times it started back up and ran fine to work that night on the way home it did it again and ran fine again after it started back up..
i was told some of the electric connectors could be loose.. i fiddled with these and the bike as ran fine for a good couple of hundred miles but is now doing it again mainly after i have been out turned it of and gone to start it again
please help
any ideas what the problem is..????

^^Sounds like you have answered your own question.^^
The ECU disconnect symbol is usually a sign that the ecu is sending signals but they are not reaching their intended destination. It usually means there is a loose or corroded connection somewhere.Have a look at the multipin connector plugs under the tank. Its not unusual for a pin to get pulled out.

Hi i have looked at the plugs i can get to cleaned them but still no joy..
on the left side there is 2 plugs which joins to a big clump of cables that go down side of the frame do you no what these cables are some times when i wiggle these with ignition on the fuel pump primes like the ignition is turned of and on could this be the problem

ps can you buy new cable plugs and replace them to try sort the problem
cheers

At a guess I would say yes. If you can move the cables around, then they will be doing the same when riding. You need to trace them to their joints.

I've been looking for specific connectors for three years with no joy,,,,,,,,,,,if you find any or find a source Id'e be indebted to you for any info.

First thing I would do is check where the alarm wires are spliced in.Alarms have no place on a T.They drain the battery and can fook up the factory built in imobiliser.
When the engine dies, does the lights, etc still work?
Any warning lights displayed?
How old is the battery?
What is the voltage at the terminals?
Double check those multipin connectors,...the pins only need to be pushed out a tiny amount to not make contact.
Also have a look at the tip over switch,...may have come loose.
Check the operation of the sidestand switch,...mine died with a broken switch.

yeah when it dies it comes up with a red triangle and ecu comes on the screen with a plug unplugged...

it doest do it all the time it might run fine for a few hundred miles then do it.. really baffling me.. doest help that im no good with machinics at all..

what is the tip over switch..??
im thinking of just getting it up on the paddock stand getting all plastics of and going through all the wires..
if that fails might have to take it to garage and pay :(

It does sound like a loose connection somewhere, but if your not confident enough to have a go, have someone look at it for you, but as you say
you could well end up paying through the nose.

Hi. I have noticed when the ECU is been displayed and it won't start when I tap the horn the error goes away then and it will start fine.

bigbo, kind of suggests an electrical problem if this should occur. Does sound strange tho'
Mind you, Italians can be that way too.

There's an error showing in dash board errors in the number 3 under memo anyone now what this is. DSC_0027.jpg

Afraid ma eyesight ain't up to that one mucker.

I no sorry rubbish pic. On dash board errors it as 1234 then active and memo it as a X in the memo of number 3

If you have dash errors,...disconnect the clocks and check/clean the electrical connections.Do the same with the ecu connectors.Use electrical contact cleaner,...not WD40.
There is a dash error table somewhere, but I'm fooked if I can find it.

The horn or the button?
Either way,the fault could be there somewhere.

i have started at the front of the bike and worked my way through to the back and cleaned every plug and connecter up still no joy.. yeah deffo when i press the horn it resets the prblem dont get it at all..

is changing the ICU as simple as taking the old one out and putting new one in..???
