Sorry if this has been covered before but is the simplest way of disconnecting the exhaust valve to just unplug the electric socket or disconnect the cables at the exhaust valve ? thanks very much in advance for any advice.

I have a 2000 RSV MILLE, and the book that came with the bike gives smaller valve clearance specs than the service manual I found. Is this because it's a US bike? Which specs would be better to go with? Split the difference?
