Right,here goes!

Kept on an Optimate
Battery fully charged
Cleaned all the plugs
Fresh fuel
Carb cleaner
Wiggled the tip sensor
Swore at it
Threatened to trade it for a Hyosung

Press the start button, just get a tick from somewhere around the tip sensor area and not start! Could it be the starter motor?
That was replaced with a Yamaha one a few years ago!

I think she might be jealous of my new trail bike, bloody women!:argh:kicknuts:doh

I would try bypassing the starter solenoid. If the engine cranks, either the solenoid went "tango uniform" or the solenoid is not getting the signal to start.

Silly question here: Is the engine cutoff switch in the "run" position? many people don't think about this and they don't ever use it. Is the bike in neutral? Sometimes the clutch switch can go.

Cheers!

The saga continues!!

Ordered a new starter solenoid from A P yesterday, thanks Sharon, bloody quick delivery.Unfortunately it still wont start!.
I noticed this split wire going into my ECU,it's blue and green and one end had a piece of rubber on the end as if it was intentionally cut, does anyone know what this is for and have any more ideas why she wont start!?

Just spoke to the mechanic at Motosport and as I didnt take the fuse out when I took the battery out the Datatool alarm may need resetting, how the hell do you do that!!!??

Hi mate, unfortunately i cant help you with the alarm problem but i 'think' your cut wire may just be the 2nd map activated on your ecu ...
try searching datatool on google, find their site and search there for help on resetting the alarm
hope this helps

Cheers mate
Been onto the datatool website and found out how to reset it,just need to find some way to take the lid of the alarm box now,it's some bizarre allen key bolt!

does it have a kind of 'pimple' right in the middle ? it may be a security bit with it being the alarm/immobiliser ... i usually just put a small terminal screwdriver in the head and snap the pimple bit off then use whatever u can to undo it ... screwdriver, allen key, torx driver etc.
it may just be a torx however which is a kind of star shape, you should be able to undo them with a screwdriver as they'll be relatively small i'd have thought, or buy a torx set for a few quid from your local tool shop/halfrauds etc

That's the one mate, tried to snap the pimple off but don't want to be be too heavy handed and f@@k the screw up,they have a set of security keys in machine Mart for £7 but im looking on e bay first as I only want to use one of them once!

Haha yeh if you've never done it before it may seem a little daunting. i came across these on my xbox 360 controller and they were quite small, didnt seem to take much force tbh, just one or two firm twists of the screwdriver and most broke off. The heasd didnt damage at all really. Its always good practice to use the right tools though ! Even though you can easily get away with this one. I'd use it as an excuse to buy some new tools anyway :thumbup let us know if you need any more help

Got myself a security socket set, waste of bloody time as she still wont start, looks like i'll be putting her in a van tomorrow and taking to her to the local Aprilia dealer, just hope they can find the problem!

I'm nominating myself for **** of the week!
Called the AA out today and it was the battery all along! Apparantly I had tested the voltage which was fine but couldn't test the amps (I think that's what he said) so even though it looked charged enough to power the electrics it didn't have enough juice to start her,new battery on the way from Griff, thank **** for that!
