World Superbike notches up #500 mark with Czech Republic Round at Brno

The Superbike World Championship notched up an important benchmark last weekend at the Automotodrom Brno circuit in the Czech Republic as the production-based racing series reached the #500 mark with Sunday's race 2.
The championship got underway at Donington Park on April 3, 1988 and the round at Brno saw races #499 and #500. Even though the Czech Republic Round was the 252nd in the championship's history, on four occasions (1988 Le Mans, 2001 Phillip Island, 2005 Imola, 2007 Silverstone), only race 1 was held.
For lovers of statistics, 878 riders from 39 different countries have taken part in at least one race of the championship, making a total of 14,544 race presences, made up as follows, with the number of different riders in brackets:
