Why did you go for a Tuono ? What else was in the running ?

What was the logic behind your choice on the Tuono then lads ?

Mine was mostly because it was the best naked twin i could buy within my budget. If i had £1500 more i'd have probably ended up with a KTM 950 SM but budget said "£2750" and the Tuono was it.

Other potential bikes at the time were a TL1000S,which didn't cut it on handling for me and an SV1000 which i was told was simply too dull.

mine was price £4200 for 56 gen 2 with 1500mile.2year ago.(bargian)old bloke could not handle her

The spec and the price,,,getting on in age and for the riding position on the superbikes:rolleyes THE MAIN REASON IS WITHOUT A DOUBT ITS A ******* GREAT BIKE:cheers:thumbup

Nah, I rented an SMT 990 for the weekend and loved the engine, a bit tall, very comfy, pipes roasted your balls riding through town and other than that it was a brilliant ride. By day two having coffee with the boys before heading off and all us staring out at our steeds I just couldn't lust her for her looks. KTM SM are brilliant bikes but the ain't eye candy and the initial outlay is alot of dosh, not a cheap bike. I can't argue too much as i've just sent a post about the color scheme of the Factory so looks can grow on you but the price, service schedule(exspensive in Switz.)and looks had me looking for a better all round package and lo behold the mighty TTTTTTT!!!!

It's staying :) we all need to come to terms with it LOL

I had just written off a ZX6 and was looking for another when I had a moment of impulsiveness and decided I actually should try something different. Within an hour I'd bought the T. It was the most different bike I could find. I did no research and it was the first one I'd seen in the flesh. Usually when I do something impulsive it turns out badly but this one has been fun!

i rode one of my mates...and instantly liked it !
was close run thing with a yammy R1
happy with my choice though :thumbup

First time I saw a Tuono was June 05 in Spain. Liz & I had stopped for lunch in Potes, at the time I had a VFR800 and Liz had just got her first bike a 600 Hornet. I had been thinking for a while that since I no longer needed to carry a pillion I could get something a bit more fun, but I really didn't fancy a sports bike - the riding position didn't appeal, especially given I would do a fair bit of steady ridnig with Liz.

Right on cue a couple of English lads roll in, one on a monster, the other on what I learned was a Tuono. At first glance I thought it was a crashed mille, a home brew fighter. We chatted for a while and went our separate ways, once back in the UK it took me a while to track one down to test ride, but once I was out of the shop I was sold within the first few miles.

I like the upright riding position, it gives good all around vision, top speed is actually lower in real terms than the VFR (effortless 130mph cruise mode) but cornering ability, acceleration, and fun facter have yet to be matched for me.

Last year I held off trading up as I was worried about work (civil engineering isn't busy at the minute) but did test ride a number of bikes, the one bike that kept coming back up to the top was the Gen II Tuono.

Having spent a fortune upgrading my Tuoldo, I knew it had to be a Factory. When my mate Windy annonced he had test ridden a couple of KTM's and blown them out on price and handling to get another Tuono, I thought again about swapping, a couple of dealers were saying that the Factory was going out of production, so I figured I had better get a move on.

As for the V4 - can't say it's eagerly awaited, for me a 1200cc V twin based on the Shiver family would get my cash.

it was either a tuono or speed triple in pink (nucleur red) but my budget of £3000 wouldnt get a speed triple, therefore i bought a tuono.

never had a naked before and didnt really want one but 3 things changed this,my doctor my physio and my bloody S5 disc lol :bawling, really wanted a factory rsv but now ive the T i love it,just got to get some miles on her now:thumbup

The upright riding position for me over that of the sports bikes.

Was down at knockhill a couple of years back and one of the lads there had a gen2 and i really liked the look and sound and by Christ he could make it go. Also liked the trick instrument cluster and the gizmos that it offers (love gimmicks) one came up at a good price so had to have it. Worked in well sold the blade on the Sat and went down to Sheffield on the Monday for the T.

Was after a Mille in 03 but the new misses said she would like to try pillion as she never been on a bike before. Bit gutted but then saw a T, perfect for her as she knows nothing about pillion comfort and even better for me as I fell in love with the T staight off. got a 6 month old T in March 04 with 800 miles on it for £5900. Sure I had his pants down at the time and was well happy to pay that. Still got it, still love it:drool

It was the same reason I bought an RSV1000R - saw it in the showroom, took it for a ride and was totally blown away - I couldn't believe it, a motorbiking revelation. Kids loved it, wife loved it and even said if i wanted it i should buy it.... SOLD.

5 days later one Black Dream Tuono Factory in the garage. I even vacuumed the carpet in the garage for the big day.

Winter commuting has been a little harsh but after every wash and further TLC just keeps coming up mint. :thumbup

Same as most of yaz I considered it the best value for the money I had to spend at
the time.....really funky and almost in the realm of exotica. I had never rode one and none of my mates had one but I am very glad and definitely made the right choice. My twin brother has a KTM 950 Supermoto which is superb also but doesn't have anywhere near
as much torque/grunt. Also I'd had 3 triumphs which I liked a lot but all of which had
been troublesome...it was time for a complete change.

was looking for a tidy used zzr1400, walked into padgets kawasaki/aprilia and only got as far as a low mileage 56 plate t with akro's, it gleamed! Made the mistake of letting salesman fire it up...... Put the deposit down on it there and then, even though I'd never riden one!

Had a 636 before the T, and used to ride at high speeds every where. It was too easy to ride fast, and the style of the bike enouraged you to do it. So was looking for something to slow me down. Looked at the FZ1 & Z1000, then saw the T and when I had a test ride, that was it. Got a cracking p/x and don't ride at a ton plus anymore - job done. The T gives so much fun with all its grunt theres no need to ride so fast anymore, and the lack of a fairing makes it feel like you are going quick

Had a Kawasaki Z750 (57) as a second bike to my big Kawasaki ZRX1200s.
The Z750 was pants so went for the Z1000 (58)
Had that for a year and found it uninspireing.

Saw a s/h 07 Tuono in a showroom and test rode it for nearly an hour. Wow.

So bought a pre-reg 09 in December and now have 500 miles on it.
Got the Black one to keep the speed down.
With Akas, a taller screen & heated grips, nice.
The ZRX1200 is my main bike, just love that to bits.
Sports bikes just dont do it for me, too old now.

I really fancied a 1050 Speed Triple, but I'd had trouble with 2 sets of warped discs on another Triumph and didn't want to go through all the agro of warranty claims again, even though the dealer was really good.

My brother's got a ZThou, my sister's got an FZ1 and I don't really do UJM's.

I had a gen 2 RSV-R (Ohlins, OZ's) a while back so I started looking at Tuonos and... here I am!
