Why a Tuono?

Tut tut tut. 'Tis but a trick of the light, my boy, that deceives the unwary into believing that red is actually faster.

Black is a stealthy colour, Grasshopper, and is therefore more difficult to see at warp speed.

Harder to see in my mirrors you mean? :lol

While I'm at it I'm stoked we have a female T owner on here, I'm yet to meet one in person, seems like the T's are a bike for boys mostly.

I agree Deyago more power to the girls & they are more likely to be sensible and behave better than us...... I think red is faster perhaps the darker colors are heavier or something... Towie

Err sorry Deyago, but why would you need mirrors to see a black Tuono that's in front of you? Oh, I get it! you'd need a parabolic mirror to enlarge the image of the said black T quickly disappearing from your sight off into the distance.:lol:lol:lol

As to the heavier comment Towie: I am quite sensitive to any reference to my more-than-ample girth thanks!:kicknuts I'll have you all know, I'm on a diet and have ordered some light coloured riding apparel from the same frock shop as Deyago. I think a nice light mauve should make us a faster combo.

On the other point you make Deyago, I am in total agreement. It's very nice to welcome Jackie to the clan. It will be good to get a feminine perspective on things as well. Perhaps Jackie may be able to add some cred to the B/S you lot of boofheads have been spinning (I must unfortunately, include myself in this group:yes).

IF I ever get to ride in the USA, Deal's Gap is first on my list of must-do rides.:cheers

Im not on a diet just yet but did join the gym so i can fit into my ridding pants, several pairs of shorts now have something hanging over the top, also have to pull my jacket down regularly for compfort.mmmmmmmmmmm
No more icecream and less beer or more beer but low card Blonde beer...

I had a BMW R bike for 6 yrs. and thought I had what I wanted. Until I rode the T. Just the handling alone made me want the Tuono. Originally I thought it to be a bit much for a geezer like me at 63 yoa. But, not so! Not only is it a thrill to ride, it is very rider friendly and can be much more with a twist of the right hand. Also, I very much liked the ergos of the Tuono.
Just yesterday I pulled in to the garage after a ride and I took out the BMW to place it on the street for a showing to a buyer. I rode it around the block. I was stunned as I could almost not manuever the beemer it was so different in feel compared to the T. The T is a thrill every time I get on board. Not so with the BMW. And, it looks like I just made the sale too!

One of the boys coming to Tassie in January has an 06 Tuono, I'll be sure to let you know how the inferior coloured bike stacks up against the Man Bike....unless of course he smokes me in which case you wont hear a thing :crazy

Bonus, spare cash is a beautiful thing!

You've touched on all the good things about the T. One word sums up the bike - Fun!

I'm happy to let the heros on the R1s, Gixxers etc... scrunch themselves into a little ball perched on their track focused superbikes and prove to themselves that it's only bad luck that Ten Kate hasn't come knocking :lol . I can relax on the T and still keep up a good pace :thumbup

I'd rather sit up and beg, than be the monkey humping the football. :cheers

I am a female Tuono rider. This definitely not an exclusive boy toy. Been riding since I was 19 am now 52. I hope to ride until the end...

Chunky,
How much for the Akras? And any noticeable difference in performance?

Bonz :cheers

Sorry Bonz. I can't give you a comparison between OEM and my Akras. I had them fitted by the dealer as part of the pre-delivery. :dunno Plus, at the time, Aprilia Australia (John Sample Group) were offering Akras with their runout models. I got mine on my '08 T because some dealer stuffed-up and advertised that all their Tuonos got free pipes. So Aprilia honoured the ad and bingo, free Akras for Davey. Woohoo:yes

I can say regarding the benefits though, that others have sometimes complained of 'fluffy' fuelling under 3500rpm. Mine is as sweet as a nut and has flawless fuelling from go to redline.

Jackie: I know of at least 3 other lady RSV/Tuono owners on the Aprliaforum, so no, it's not just a boys' toy (for; which I am really stoked). It is a very, very good motorcycle to ride, and an even better one to ride fast: whether you're male or female.:thumbup

Chunkylad. Deals Gaps is HEAVEN on Earth. I have hundreds if photos for all the years I have been there. If you want ot see a picture of my maiden Dragon trip when I only had 60 miles on the Tuono (day after I bought it) look on the calender for September 27. I think it was a Saturday. First time I was ever NERVOUS in the Dragon. I have never had a bike with less than 100 miles.
BTW I have an entire wardrobe of Deals Gap clothing..... shirts, hats, Dragons Breath Hot Sauce, key rings. Neck lanyards.
I was there twice this year and next year I want to go at least three times.
Sorry for the off topic post... but if it wasn't for the Smokey Mountains, I may not even own my Tuono. A gut wrenching love story. LOL!!

Hi Mog, I've only just seen your link/video. I just new there was a good reason for my brilliant purchase. As if my '03 Tuono wasn't a good enough incentive!!

Reseda

I'd rather sit up and beg, than be the monkey humping the football. :cheers

Hi VFR4Lee,

I notice from your profile that you are from Reseda, L.A. - would that be the same "Reseda" that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers refers to in the song "Free Fallin" ?

Was over there a few years back and drove around the places he refers to in the song - including Ventura Boulavard and Mulholland.

Just bought mine (today). We'll see how well I like it but the reasons to want one are obvious and well represented in this forum. I'm trading my Sprint ST in on it, have owned many sportbikes including two GSX-R 1000s and am looking for something different.

If the Tuono is everything I hope, my GSX-R 750 is going on track. Cheers.
