Why a Tuono?

I had a tls , the boys are now old enough to go on the back(7 and 8) but slow riding was killing my wrists. So I put high bars on it , the straight line stability was lethal , so it went back to stock and I sold it. The Tuono was a natural successor essentially what I tried to build with the TL.

I've had an Yamaha Fz6 naked and decided to get something with bigger engine, not that it would be faster (I've wrote off an R6, and I know how it hurts to go fast on public roads) but bigger engine is just more torquey. I test rode Speedtriple, CBR1000RR, Fz1, R1 and Tuono. The Tuono has won. It's just easiest bike to ride (from what I've tested), stability is great, breaks are awsome (front of course), engine is torquey and smooth, looks great, is rare (very rare in Poland), I'm old enough to buy an Italian bike (you have to grow up to get Italian bikes) and ........ so many other things.
So finnaly I got myself '08 Tuono Factory. I know that red-white combination is not as great as matt black but Factory has all that trickery (Ohlins, carbon, forget wheels ...) that I for sure would buy for R version paying more, plus my friend who sold me the T gave me good price on her.

haha, i just like the idea of bike. I'm sure the current T is more than handful powerwise.

Well Tuvalox i have riden the new improved T3 and the Tuono murders it for comfort and putting a pillion on the back.... & if scratching is your thing as it is mine the Thunder kicks it in the arse, would need to be a hell of ridder on the tripple to beat the big T..
Dont know what you other men think?? **** the tripple no comparison!!!!

Tuono is Italian for Thunder! You don't need to know anything else :thumbup

But, If that's not enough info, it handles great, is comfortable all day, and the engine just freakin' rips! :cheers

Ditto my sentiments.

There was nothing close to the T when I went looking back in March.

got a fazer 4pot and wanted something different . so traded in me gixer and got a tuono and a free 15t sprocket , and got rid of me neck ache

Well, where to start? Been riding now for about 8 years, and in that time have had enough bikes to be a bike magazine road tester..............here goes........

The list is as follows, in chronological order:-

Blackbird, VFR 800, GSXR1000 K2, R1, Duke 999, BMW K1200S, BMW 1200GS, Aprilia RSV Mille, Fireblade, Triumph Tiger, GSXR1000 K7 and finally a Tuono Factory!

Always liked sports bikes, bought the GS to tour Europe two up, bought the Tiger to holiday in France and Spain solo, back to GSXR but all roads where I live are all twisty lanes and couldn't really use all the power - not to mention it was damned uncomfortable.

Wanted something with sportbike power and handling, but with comfort. Tried the Speed Triple which was a close second, also the new CB1OOOR, but tht had no character. Then hopped on a Tuono - wow, great noise, fantastic power and handling and full of Italien character! Best bike so far, this one's a keeper!

Some pictures of my former steeds below.

Best all around machine!!!Great power, handlin' and just a blast to ride every time I suit and boot and mount up!!!

ive had all sorts of stuff over the years, fireblade, ktm duke 2, gsxr 1100 & 750, 1200 bandit, gsx 1400, buell x1 (unreliable slow piece of american rubbish that i will never do again), a 1979 gs1000 that i still got and the last bike was a 2003 rsv.

all was going well until a mate gave me a go on his tuono r. that was the end of it, one trip to the dealers with the rsv and my credit card and the factory was added to the family. without a doubt the best bike i ever rode.

RBD i hate those pics dont show them too me again i cant get the drool off my keyboard..... and i love them all well dressed also..Towie

In January 2006 I went to Tasmania with 14 mates on bikes to lap the map inside and out. Along the way we drank and ate ourselves stupid and visited the venerable Cascade brewery, but that's another story.

Besides my '99 VFR800 there was an RSV Mille, a new model Tuono, ZX-9, ST-2, Thundercat, Monsters and so on. My friends are no slouches and we made the holiday our own private superbike school.

About 3/4 of the way into the trip I noticed an alarming thing, no matter how early I was on the throttle and how much I threw the big girl around trying to keep up with capable riders on sportier machinery was bloody hard work. It was comfortable work I might add as the Viffer is a fine sports tourer but when my mate's mille opened up I was toasted.

By the end of that trip I was riding footpeg to footpeg fully laden and wanting more.

A short while after that trip a mate brought over a new 2006 Tuono demo to whet my appitite. A few weeks later I'd bought a schmick 2003 Tuono. The rest is history.

Oh - I'm back in Tassie for 10 days from January 9th. My mates are already making excuses for why I'll be passing them.

I love it... never got to tour the map sadly but will endevour to one day most of the readers here prob dont know about the map a tasie.... heheheh

I'll let them work out the Map o Tassie reference, heh.

It's one of those places that you go to once and have to go back for another turn. I grew up in Tassie so it's always good to go home.

The biggest attraction is the multitude of good twisty roads that make up the Tassie transport routes. Being so rural and mountainous you aren't troubled by much other than the wildlife and the grey nomads.

Watch out Deyago. Them grey nomads can bite (at least the ones with their own teeth can).

Ahh Tassie. I can but dream of your cool climate and awesome roads.

So "Why a Tuono?" One questions will a million answers. There are two kinds of bikers.... those who own a Tuono and those who are going ot own one. lol I was @ Smith Powersports in Hayesville ,NC very close to the Dragon. www.dealsgap.com for more info on the Tale of the Dragon.
Cutting to the chase I ended up at the dealership when I took a riding break on my second week in the Smokey Mountains. I saw this Black Matte Tuono R and couldn't take my eyes off of it. In less than one week I bought it , rode it over 600 miles and got it serviced including a remap and a nice pait of Leo Vince slip ons.
I have to tell you I now own 8 bikes. I have some really good S**t... but this bike for a reason I will never understand moves me. No it isn't nearly as fast as my 2007 Gixxer 1000, and it is no match in any gear for my 2006 LTD Busa with RC Component rims, and it will never have the neck snapping torque of my 2007 Pearl white M109R. I could go on but I think the people here already get my drift. I LOVE this damn bike. Nimble quick handling (better than my Gixxer IMHO), comfortable and GOOD LOOKING. And the price was right. a 2007 leftover for 9699.00 made me drive all the way back to the Smokey Mountains.
At one time I thought an Aprilia in my fleet would be way to pricey but it turns out I paid less for it than the previous bikes mentioned.
BTW I am a female rider from NYC with over 30 years experience riding on 2 and hundreds of thousands of miles.
Beware those Brembos stop so well I have locked them up and skidded with the same amount of pressure normally applied to all my Suzuki's. Nice to know the stopper's work well.
So when all is said and done I put my dollar fifty in about much I love this bike and I would ride it EVERY day if time would allow.

Jackie

Great story Jackie.

Glad to hear that you bought the fastest colour too btw.

Dave

Heeeeere we go again! Why people with the slow Tuonos must always make that comment is beyond me. It is a proven fact that red ones go faster.

Tut tut tut. 'Tis but a trick of the light, my boy, that deceives the unwary into believing that red is actually faster.

Black is a stealthy colour, Grasshopper, and is therefore more difficult to see at warp speed.
