Who'd be up for a forum ride to the seaside (Bristol - Weymouth and back)?

After the success of yesterday's forum ride in Wales, who'd be up for a ride to the seaside?

I'm thinking Bristol down to Bridport, then along the cracking roller coaster road along the Jurassic coast into Weymouth for fish and chips on the beach.

Not as good roads as in Wales (coast road excepted) but it's a good ride nonetheless. Bit more of a trek to the start for some people, though we could pick up people on the way if needs be.

If you fancy the idea post on here - if there's interest I'll sort summat out. I'm thinking a Saturday (or Sunday if more prefer that) in early to mid-May.

Hi giles - ride out sounded great, i'd be well up for spin to linton/lynmouth (new starter switch arriving when the italians feel like posting it)

Shame you missed out on yesterday's ride John, still the Summer is only just beginning - plenty of rides to come :thumbup

No news on your switchgear yet?

:lol - frasers said it would be a week :lol - thats a figure they pluck out of thin air :crazy
in the mean time - feeling pissed off as i was yesterday missing the ride out i took the switch apart again & got it intermittently working - but it stopped working again after filling up with go go juice - so had to get some poor sod filling up to help me bump start it - he was a bit shocked at the noise when it fired :yes

like you say mate - just the start of summer so will get out next time :thumbup

funny old place for me to get to but hey! I might even book a B&B and do the area properly

I'd be right up for this, even make a long weekend out of it. Brilliant plan. The coast road in Dorset has been on my must do list for as long as I can remember.

Gilo - I might be up for this too. Its about an hour for me to Bristol. Just checked the Bristol-Bridport-Weymouth route out and that apparently is 81 miles, so pretty reasonable.

On Sunday the last hour though I was completely gone. Could not get comfy at all - arse, neck in particular. We got home about 6:45 but we only stopped for petrol between 3-6:45 so long old stretch. Especially as I completely chose the wrong jacket - plonker :(

Seeing as a few of you guys who are interested have a fair way to come we can make a weekend of it - either find a Premier Inn or summat, or maybe even better a B&B in Weymouth then we can all go out on the lash in Weymouth on the Saturday evening.

I'll come up with a few possible dates and see if we can get summat arranged.

Shotgun's Exmoor route is a cracker too, deffo one we must do this Summer.

Aldo - I'd be well up for coming up to Scotland to hook up with you guys for riding and boozing, not sure I'm gonna be able to fit it in this Summer though...:thumbdown

Being a semi-alcoholic (probably like a lot of peeps on here!) I like the sound of that. As long as I can take my time getting home on Sunday :)

I'm sure I can get a full weekend pass if I grovel enough.

Be cheaper to camp down in Porlock and theres a fair few nice pubs down that way ;)
Thing is B&B's etc only book full weekends from Friday to Sunday like campsites. Its a bit of a *******.

It might be better to try a smaller type hotel or a pub away from the crowd. I'd m/way to wherever the meet up is and after a long raz the last thing I'd want is a walk round Weymouth with all them fish faced mutants :lol, some proper mongs down there. Nice country Inn with a beer garden do me.

Grandad we love you, grandad we do :lol

If yer planning summat like that later in the year I'd be up for it.I need to get fitter/stronger and sort out me eye trouble first.

I'd be up for a bit of action north of the border too.

this has the makings of a good old jolly up......and as regards the Scotland thing, love scotland to bits, and the roads are amongst the best, so we must do the north of the border thing and let Aldo, Rico, Dynamo and the rest show us the best roads and pubs !!!

I can do 1st or 8th of may. If it's a weekend thing I'd have to find out what Saturday I'm working though.

Im up for this run Gilo , good roads down there , got a good fast route to weymouth from wincanton way across the hills , no speed cameras or cops , be spot on for you fast guys !

What fast guys. I was 2nd to Llandovery and Builth and unless my speedo is wrong my speedo was only showing mostly 60 and tops 70. Mind u I don't like slowing for corners much. Still class muself as a slow road rider

Ok chaps, I reckon we're looking at a day trip to Exmoor for Shotgun's route and a weekend away in Dorset.

I'll come up with dates for the weekend (probably in May), check which is best for the likely contenders, and we'll get it in the calendar.
