which are the best leathers???

if your not a very good rider then you want even better gear than a good rider surly as your more likely to come off? ;)

But if you aint a very good rider you probably wont be going so fast...:biggrin...so the kit could be the same

Sometimes i think its pure snobbery on what leathers people get

Get the best you can afford
Make sure they FIT

You're not going to come off at 170mph on the road and a £300 suit is going to be better than jeans and a bommer jacket.

I think most people go with the best they can afford anyway, that is human nature TBH, there are a lot will buy for the name badge and pose value, fit is extremely important as you say, i had a mate who raced in the Irish Road racing scene and fell of often, his Eddie Lawson Dainese suit just fell to bits in an off, and i mean fell to bits, stitching out everywhere, he bought a set of Crowtrees and fell of in them a load of times and they still held up, that is why they were popular with the racing scene, now his made to measure Crowtrees cost less than the Dainese set, so the moral is that the more you spend does not always mean they are better, i bet not many on here have heard of Crowtree, but everyone knows of Spyke/Dainese etc. due to the marketing of the brand name, just because you see Rossi wearing a brand does not mean that is what you will get off the shelf, far from it.

My advice is do your homework and don't just buy the best you can afford coz it may well not be better than another cheaper set.

I have also noticed that the big brand names, have several tiers of products, the ones they make for race teams, the pro stuff for punters and the bog standard stuff badged Astars, dainese etc, but made up in some country like turkey, asia etc. Italian leather? you would want them at least to be made in Italy wouldnt you!.
So far my (italian made) Astarsgear have stood up to crashing well, espescially the supertech boots.but , if I was tracking it a lot I would get one of the heavy duty suits.
Ck

Mate , you should see the:jack over here , they ride in shorts and t shirt , ill take a pic and show you guys :dunno

people do that over here to. I was knocked off a moped in a t-shirt when i was 16 at less than 8mph, learnt my leason never ride in anything less than full gear now, however shot the trip

I finally found the perfect fitting, awesome one-piece suit today..!!! :D :D :D and amazingly it is NOT an Arlen Ness!!! :dowhat I would have had to modify a men's suit, which would always remain a compromise.. And I happened to stumble on a gorgeous, well made, brandnew ladies' race suit this morning that just fits me like a gloooove..

Hi Dude I had a set of Aprilia Racing leathers ( made by Spyke ) and they were very good. couple of crashes at Donington and then one mother of a highside at Mallory where I had em cut off by the nice Dr ! Wore a brand new set of Belstaff and the zip bust on the second lap of a race in the rain ( not good ) im now waiting for my made to measure Crowtree which as you will have read are one if not the best you can get ? only problem is the price, but then think again how much do you value youe *** ???? and then it also depends on your riding? road or racing ? I would advise EVERYBODY to invest £100 in a Knox back protector !!!!! worth it mate once you have worn one you will feel naked without it.

Another one here that remembers Crowtree, Badger........TOP bit of kit !! :thumbup

I have tested my Crowtrees out at about 70mph sliding down the A43 near towcester. Went about a 100 yards down the road sliding on my arse. Wore a couple of holes in the outer panel but no damage to my derrier!!! I sent them back to Crowtrees and they patched them. Still swear by them built of Rhino hide and were comfy from the beginning. All I would say is its your little pink body so maybe that extra couple of hundred squids could be money invested in the long run. Better still dont be a prat like me and test any leathers out for real !!!!!

CHECK OUT oops shoutin ,mahoney [steve] awesome leathers, crackin quality, top bloke ...do a search for him on here or check his ebay shop ebc essex bikers centre
