It seems there is no Mille as of end of this year. Likely the Tuono etc will die as well unless they have a pile of engines in the warehouse.
The rotax deal is over at end of 2008 and the 1200 in house is not in a high enough state of tune for a sports replacement (yet).
There will be a 1200cc version of the shiver and an all new twin sports bike (rsv replacement) based around that same engine in a higher tune sometime later probably following year.
They can't put the inhouse engine in the current RSV/Tuono whatever happens as it's a 90 twin and won't fit.
That was the info that came from head of Piaggio a while back via Italia press.

Not me but in a world of 1200 ish twins as rivals I don't see that they have a lot of choice.
Amazing amount of people buy on the strength of a numpty in a mag saying this or that bike is the ultimate. Right now they are saying the RSV is old hat and outclassed.
You and I know in the real world that is bollocks but that crap sells bikes. :dunno
