What to look out for? i'm searching for a Tuono!

Lovely machine there, what tyres are they? I always say to mates when we swap rides : 3k it pulls , 5k it really starts to pull, 7k look out it goes mad! Enjoy it

Theyre Dunlop Qualifer 1's. Not a tyre id of chosen probably, but the seller fitted a brand new rear before i picked it up, so i cant complain. They seem okay, but with having to scrub them in and only having chance to ride about 10 miles in the dry so far, i cant say too much on them haha.

It just goes like a rocket doesn't it. Just gotta hold on, its brill! haha. I've yet to wind it up full too!!

Nice looking steed . very clean in the pics . wise choice on using A/performance good bunch o blokes ,

and if its got some aprilia performance paperwork with it when you sell it , that will pay dividends if you get my drift.

and if you twist Griffs arm he may well chuck in a free A/P t shirt fer free .:thumbup

Thats something i never thought about, nice one. He does seem very well respected on online doesn't he. I googled him and couldn't find a single bad word. I guess if somebody knows what they're buying when i do come to sell it, they'll be pleased to see AP.

ooh i like T's...

Im really lovin the Aprilia life so far tbh. Nothing like the Honda or Suzuki one. It's almost like Aprilia's are for people who are properly passionate about bikes haha. I think i might fit in well here...

I think id be tempted to go to Pirelli Angels or Michelin Pilot Road 4's when these get knackered.

I mean.. I dont think the temp ever gets high enough for soft rubber around here? n when you do get the temps up.. you get stuck behind a car anyway haha

I love my PR3's and understand the 4's are even better.

Theres not much in it between the 3's and 4's i didnt think

Do you find theres more than enough grip for the Tuono mate? I've not had em on a bike with this much power before haha.

I ve got PR 3,s fitted to mine . found them great all rounder , plenty of grip both wet and dry .

got a spare rear PR 3 in the man cave ready to fit when the time comes, got it at a bargain price "new " to good to miss .

I seem to remember reading a review in one of the bike rags stating the 4's were better in the rain, but I dunno. I got caught in a hail storm and my 3's did just fine. Granted, I wasn't exactly pushing the bike at the time. :lol

Didnt know he came out, thats good! Unfortunately all my mates are Jap il4 people haa.

Nooo, get a couple of other local Ape owners together for a service day and he will come to you.

There is also an Aprilia Performance forum which covers all things and models of Ape at aprilia.me Forums Hope I don't get slaughtered for promoting it but loads of good info there (as well as here) ???

Yeah i know what you mean mate. But theres nobody i know around here with Aprilias haha.

Thanks! Ill certainly take a look at that site. No harm in looking eh ;)

Popped over to Aprilia Performance today and picked up a Fireblade sidestand.

What a top bunch of lads. Griff seems like a really genuine bloke too, sound as anythin.

I'll be taking it there for servicing and what not then :).

Congrats on your new ride! I just scored a 2010 Tuono 1000R with 4.5k miles in mint condition. Sold my beloved 2000 speed triple 955i to get this bike. Wish I had room for both bikes as they're both brilliant!

Are you going to upgrade the rear suspension link plates? I just ordered the af1 solid plates. The failing rear stories really scare me... But it seems there are no reports of failures on later model gen 2 bikes. What do you think OP?

I had Qualifiers on my Gen 1. Did a track day at Cadwell and the torque just destroyed the rear. Too soft.
Changed them to Road Angels, much better tyre for UK.
Ironically, I have just picked up a nice Gen 2 and it has Qualifiers on it. I am sure they wont last long!
Nice wheels pal. I love the Gen 2 I have just picked up. Its intoxicating to ride!
