Usually at the top of the apple tree.
I enjoyed this thread in another World so I thought it might be welcomed here.

I was in Ayr this morning measuring a job. The weather was dry and sunny with a fresh breeze blowing but not to cold, so after doing what I was there to do I decided that seeing as I was close to my favoured playground it would be daft not to take advantage of the situation.

So off to the hills I went for a couple of hours. I managed a 24 mile loop, most of it on cycle tracks and fire breaks.
The cycle tracks have a prep'ed surface of loose stones but the fire breaks are just the natural terrain, soft as **** wae bogs, rocks and loads of fallen debris from the trees.
I had been on most of them 4-5 weeks ago and they were ok but today it looked like they'd held an enduro on them. I wasn't for stopping to take a pic or a breather.

The pic is a brand new footpath that didn't look like anyone had even walked it, the last time I'd been on it it was as rough as feck.

I had a full to do's wae the weans over the weekend so ma two hours today was well cherished all beit no on ma T.

Nice one Aldo, I envy you, :thumbup
Weather has been ***** here all day, mine needs a clean after getting caught on Saturday, can't be arsed now. :no

awe that good work they path makin gadgies ripped tae shreds wi a fat knobbly Aldo rooster tail......ah hope ye jist gently toodled alang that section.

A wiz on ma tip toes r min look at the unmarked path behind the bike.

It wiznae like that on the tight turns though (a did feel a bit guilty though) and when the forestry dudes clock whit's been done ower the last few weeks, it'll be leave well alone time until the weather and conditions get to severe for the faint hearted.

That looks bloody lovely that does. All the green lanes round our way were turned into bridleways and suchlike years ago. :(

c, did yer know that save a few 1000 yards worth there are no BOATs or the like in Scotland.

It's an offence to take any machine off road without written permission from the landowner.

Sad as **** when Scotland has The Biggest Wilderness in Europe.

It's such a load of historic and political *****.

Thats pretty **** that is, there's enough space for everybody rather than just the janet street porter self righteous brigade.:banghead

That's whit happens when yer got the dosh and the clout fae centuries ago.

As a said "It's such a load of historic and political *****"

That looks abs fab Aldo.... bloody criminal its not open for everyone to enjoy.

:(

I use Trailwise to find routes (did notice none show for scotland - guess that explaines why)

Did a Yamaha Enduro day in Wales zillions of years ago - what a laff & the size & variety of their playground was huge.... shame its so far away. Spent plenty of time face in the dirt but still came home grinning !

....................Sad as **** when Scotland has The Biggest Wilderness in Europe.

It's such a load of historic and political *****.

Unless yer in the Wind Turbine business! then its awe right tae slap hardcore roads richt thru the last truly wilderness areas in Europe

r min that's kool, they things have a limited life span and as fir destruction of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whit if there wiznae General Wade and his roads.

God forbid the next ice age mucker little even a hard core road through the hills.

It kills millions and causes landslides, **** and pillage.

Bring back the VIKINGS.

Get real ya fud.

My mucker phoned last night and declared himself unfit fir work today so I had an enforced day off. I'm up to date with paperwork and pricing so I decided to venture into a forest I'd spent time looking at on google earth.

I printed off a few maps of the area and off I toddled. It's a three hour drive to the target area and the forecast wiz fir rain all day so I flung in another pair of boxers, socks and a towel.

When I got there the rain had stopped, a quick change of gear, bike out and fuelled, the chain lubed and off I went.

Looks nice there in the forest Aldo, we used tae belt aboot the forestry at Allenton in lanarkshire. Got chased a couple of times by forestry muppets in landies, nae match for the mighty Kdx 175

slayer, back in the day one of those forestry fuckwhits came at me head on tryin tae kill me.

It wiz serious **** mucker, there wiz a massive drop on one side and a twenty foot deep drainage channel on the other wae huge boulders and loads of other **** never mind the trees that yer jist didnae want tae mess wae.

I'd nae where to go so I opted fir the channel on my right and if yer ever had the misfortune of knowin that yer gonnae hit whitever no matter whit yer do, then that wiz where I wiz

Anyhoo I don't think the jobs worth reckoned on the rest of my muckers that were a bit behind me.
