check the "plugs" where the swing arm was welded. look for cracks. also smell/lick the fluid and make sure it's water not brake fluid or oil or gas! Are you sure you are riding an Aprilia mate or are you riding a Buell with the new helicon motor with the fuel in Frame? lol
use a ramp and leave your bike in a stoppie and put a paper under the bike and see if the fluid drips. if not leave it in a wheelie and see if it drips find out where it's coming from I guarantee it's coming from either end. most likels from the axles
Happy now pointer,are we...:dunno

To be honest mate i think you can rule out any cracks in welds, it wouldnt let water in as it would at most be a hair line crack, but i doubt it, how much water was actually in it mate ?

about a cap cap and a half if you know what i mean as a welder myself
seen no problem with the weld's

any other weak point's :dunno

chain tension bolts

got me baffled
have to have another good look at it

only thing i can think is if ya jet wash it water may get in thro them, but once again im doubting it, im gonna have a look at mine tomorrow now

It may even be a condensation thing that happens over a few years due to the weather :dunno

What about the mounting point for rear hugger, upper and lower chain guard, brake hose/speedo cable holder? Can any of these bolts be loose?

I thought that at first but rather think the part of the swingarm the hugger bolts into is solid cast and then the hollow arms are welded to it, but i might be wrong, i generally am :thumbup

Dont think it is solid but I do agree that the sidepieces are prolly welded to it.
This still leaves the other mounting points dunnit?
