I've seen the light and finally made the switch to V Twins with an '02 RSV 1000 Mille (in the faster black and red paint job!). I look forward to contributing on the forum but right now I've got a problem and I need your help. The bike is mint except for one thing - the rear brake light isn't working and I've traced the problem to the switch. Trouble is, a previous owner has made a bit of a botched attempt at a repair and the switch is so mangled I'm not sure what I'm looking at! The wires are severed and I need to remove the switch to repair and reconnect it.

Can someone tell me if I need to remove the whole thing nut and all or should the plastic component come out on its own? Sorry for the stupid question but I've owned the thing for less than 24hrs so not familiar with it yet.

Thanks in advance.

Hi dave, did you find out as I need to remove mine to solder my wires back on?

Hi w00dzy,

The whole thing comes off if you can get a spanner on it! I ended up buying a new one as the old one was beyond repair. I think it was about £20 and was a 2min job to fit. The threads on the old one were a bit gunged up so it took a littler effort to get it moving. Seems to be a bit of a weakness with them - dealer had sold three new switches in two days when I bought mine!

Good luck with it.

Dave
