thanks mick, so just to confirm, can have no tread on the middle but legal tread on the sides?????

You need to have at least the minimum legal requirement of tread of 1mm over full width and circumference, if its below that then its illegal. The wear bars are there for a guide only.

F*%K Me, here in good old NZ you would probably be able to take the police to court for breaching your rights as a civilian. Some smart arse lawyer would take the case and complain about breach of basic human rights.

I just checked the gov site and found this, it clarifies it quite clearly:

It is mandatory that your tyres conform to the following rules:
Tyres must be kept in good condition without bulges, splits or breaks.
Pressure must be maintaining to recommended levels.
There must be 1mm of tread depth throughout a continuous band measuring at least three quarters of the breadth of the tread around the entire circumference OR if the grooves of the original tread pattern did not extend beyond three quarters of the breadth of the tread any groove, which showed in the original tread pattern must have a depth of at least 1mm. AND
The base of any groove, which showed on the original tread pattern, must be clearly visible.

I know plenty of coppers- and not one of them is the sort of person I would consider to be an 'ideal' policeman.

One is a high ranking DCI who trains at my gym; does it so he can still get a grip and initmidate the crims. Good guy, but scars on his hands from fights before he joined the force.

Another has a massive temper problem and is liable to go bonkers any minute. Spent 7 years working in Tesco previously and had to go the PCSO route as he couldn't get it.

Another is a scum bag who simply realised the MET pay more than the mickey mouse job she had elsewhere...

Another is about 5' 8" and has severe little man syndrome...

Finally my best mates brother is a copper; worked on the Tesco meat counter (yes, another one), then a DHL driver and finally a PCSO. Got rejected by the MET twice so went into Essex police.

Do I have faith in coppers? How about no?

The last guy bought a car from me (i was a car dealer a few years ago) and asked if he could test drive a Focus ST.

He took our demo up to about 120mph in a 60mph- on trade plates.

Double standards? You bet!

I used to have a DCI living next to me , looked like a clone of Lurch stood about 6'6" and loved intimidating people ( & beating up his wife).

His wife told me that when he went on his first police interview he got into a fight in the waiting room !

His philosophy was " we can't prove he did it, but we're sure he did something else so he is it"

He got warned about beating up suspects in custody and other unsavoury habits.

Result of all this: Put back into uniform and promoted to Supt, going on to Chief Super where he took early retirement ( probably cos they didn't know what to do with him)

Nice bloke if he was on your side tho' I came to the conclusion that the only difference between Cops & Crims was where they clocked in for work.

On the upside tho' everybody who rides in N Wales can take heart from the fact that **** Brunstrum :jack:jack:jack has announced he's retiring this summer :thumbup:thumbup
