tyres

Racetec's are soft, even the k3 is a soft tyre in comparisonto others, wouldn't expect much more mileage out of a set of k3's, try something like a michelin 2CT set for more miles.

Thanks tyre geezer very good to get the feedback from someone in the buisness, so ow much for a pair of sportec m5s for ma ape:devious:devious:devious:thumbup

Personally i can't find fault with the Michelin Power Pures, got them on my Factory and MV, feckin brilliant tyre for all round road use, but i ride like a fanny so pretty useless info:dowhat

Hi - Tyre Geezer, Im intrigued by your thoughts, do you have any views on the Maxxis supermaxx or the pirelli diablo supercorsa BSB's?

Theruck - I understand you have strong views on such a subject, and even a very good point. My experience with Maxxis tyres in both Kart and Motocross racing have been good but Im not too familiar how they perform with Road bikes. The real question I need to ask you is: Does £205 for a pair of pirelli's (BSB) out justify a pair of Maxxis (supermaxx)for a mear £139?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFHm1pvKebw no personal experience though. i wonder why have you bought a mille if you are considering saving 60 bucks on some taiwan tyres? if you enter maxxis supermax to google, the manufacturers website is not even on the first page of results...
here (SVK) you can buy a set of Dunlop Sportmax Qualifiers for 200 EUR which is like 175 GBP. i think that you can beat that in UK easily
and to answer your question suprcorsas are track tires while supermaxx are road tires, pirelli has huge experience in production of racing tyres you remember well from you childhood where you had the pirelli logos on every car model you had, while most interesting info about maxxis is
Code:
"Maxxis was founded in Taiwan in 1967, and is today one of the largest and most respected tire companies in the world. Operating in Asia, Europe, North America and South America, Maxxis distributes its products in approximately 170 countries and employs more than 22,000 people."
so yes pirellis out justify the maxxis

After a good deal of noseying about in the press and on tinterweb, I got it down to 2 - Pirelli Angel ST or Dunlop Roadsmarts. I went for the Roadsmarts, purely because they were £50 cheaper for the pair. I ride fairly conservatively and have to have dual compound as I do a fair bit of straight line riding and wanted longevity. I've currently covered 160 motorway miles on them and they feel fine. I've not yet done many familiar bendy roads, but when I do I'll feed that back in too. one 40mph limit corner near where I live was very "easy" and I actually tipped it in too "quickly", but thats likely due to me being used to the old square tyres!!!I hope this helps. J.P. In answer to your question, the Maxxis SuperMaxx Sport is a reasonable tyre. However, it's never going to compete with the Diablo Supercorsa BSB for grip. But, it will give you slightly better life, but you will compromise on feedback and grip. So, it's kinda loaded in favour of the Pirelli simply down to strength of carcass, better compound and improved road grip, giving confidence and rideability. I'm a Maxxis main agent, so have no problem with their tyres and sell quite a few of them. However, I'd be reluctant to put them on a powerful V-Twin engined bike. I hope that helps and doesn't muddy the waters too much.

r.e. tyre geezers thread about m5 sportecs, i'm sure they use a single compound, but with five different zones of steel belt tensioning to make the compound react in different ways (3 really, 1 in the middle and 2 the same either side)......nit picking really!! i'm sure theyll be good mind as they replace the m3, which i got about 3000 miles out of including a fair bit of motorway travelling...

just wacked on a set of k1 and k2 racetecs.... my word :devious:inlove

i'll be lucky to get 500 miles of road use mind! :dowhat
