Twin exhaust on a pre 03 Mille

Ok m8 , i was wondering if you had the air box done too. Hopefully ill be out on mine tomorrow for a blast if the weathers not too bad.

Looking forward to your new paint , the bikes looks very different now and when the paints done god only knows. Ill be throwing a few pennies at mine in the new year all being well :thumbup

Just thought I would revive this post as the question never got answered. Does the newer twin system fit and also does the Falco system fit?
I would love twin pipes but not got the £££

like little 1 i got customs built for mine, bout £400, proper bargain, sound the nuts and look cool as fook.

Its a bargin if you got £££ but the question is how to do it cheap, as in can you get a second hand newer mille or falco down pipes. If so it can be done for way under £200, even closer to about £150.

Apriliastars, i'm guessing the simple answer to the first question is no, the newer model twin pipe set up doesn't fit. As to why, i'd guess mounting points and different shape/size/angled headers. Happy to be proved wrong on that one however!

The Falco set up.....there is a question. Find a set from a pre 03 Falco and you could have a go, but it isn't something i've heard of anyone else trying, and i'm sure someone must of thought of doing it before.

I know one of the members here had Lee at Adrenalin Junkie adapt his pre 03 Mille headers to be able to link to a pipe either side. Have a search through the threads :thumbup

As a side note, never can read the word Falco without Rock me Amadeus popping into my head :laugh

Kool, that means I can take out the 4 down pipes out of my watch list from a newer version, lol. Saved me making the mistake of buying some.

I could make my own link pipe an tig it to the original but thought I would save myself the time.

Think I will just search for two cheap slipon end cans and go from there. Also two cans will give it a deaper sound which is what I am after.

If you'd like a picture of how Akrapovic went about changing the headers for either side exhausts, then let me know and i'll post up a pic for you to see squire.

These click me are on ebay at the moment if you wanted to try the Falco theory out???

Yeh go for it, sure a few of us would like to see.

Just one other question, is a left side exhaust hanger easy to come by as the mille only got a right side attached to the footpeg....

The hanger question all depends on whether you want to be able to carry a pillion or not really. I'd imagine a left sided exhaust hanger itself is easy enough to come by through an aftermarket supplier, but to retain the ability to carry a pillion, you'd need the left hanger from a Falco.

If you go the falco way you will need the front header pipe too.. the falco oil tank is different to the mille so the front header pipe is routed different... the mille front header pipe won't line up with the falco link pipes...the mille rear header fits to the falco link pipes with no problem..

Heres a early mille fitted with falco pipes and Quill cans....

V60, was this your RSV with the Falco pipes?

How does the link pipe exit the fairing on the left hand side?

Got any more piccies?

Thanks

Sorry but no more pics of the bike..
The bike belonged to a guy that used to post on aprilia.me, but that was 3 or 4 years ago.
I bought a set of falco link pipes and a front header and was intending fitting them to my bike but never got round to it.The falco headers and link pipes are smaller diameter than the mille system so there could be a slight power loss.

As for the left hand fairing..it would have to be cut something like this stencil shows ( The curve in the middle would be the piece you would cut out!!)......
