Just bought a Beowulf exhaust for my 02 rsv Mille. It came of an 04 Tuono and has the eprom with it. Will there be any point in fitting this eprom to my bike?

yep.. same engine, same ecu.. is there anything on the chip? if it's just a standard eprom just leave it be... if it's something like a dr. rossi, evoluzione or gabro then get it in there... where abouts on the emerald isle are you located chum? in belfast myself...

If you are intending on tuning it with dyno/PCIII try to get hold of an Edwards chip, theyre a good'un.
otherwise get a std mille chip
i have one somwhere you can have, want me to look fer it?
Cheers ck

Depends what's on it really ... Sort from at component level I guess it's mostly what ot is set for that is really important. I am guessing that Evo etc just come with a standard map to suit their product. Unless you are doing or planning on doing a whole heap of changes I would have thought a suitably mapped chip would be good enough whatever the base chip was. It's the mapping that is important ... As long as the chip fits of course :£

The chip that came with the exhaust is a standard RP58 for the Tuono. Think I'll leave the stock rsv chip in place for now. Not sure what to think about the beowulf exhaust either, had my first long run with it last night and thought it sounded kinda like a quick Harley! (embarrassed)
I'm down Omagh direction mate.

yeah the rp58 is just the standard aprilia chip.. i wouldn't bother installing it.. just make sure your green/blue wire has been cut and heat shrinked to put your current eprom on map 2 and it will be 100%

Feels a bit flat at higher revs with the new exhaust, will cutting that wire help?

Yeah there are 2 preset maps on the stock chip.. one for the stock pipe and one for an aftermarket race exhaust.. the 2nd map is engaged by cutting said wire.. there are plenty of tutorials on which wire to cut.. just make sure your 100% sure which one you need to be cutting.. its the wire on the bottom row, closest to the exhaust side on the largest of the two connectors as far as I can remember..

The RP58 is if you have tested it against 10+ different eproms like I have is believe it or not very good ... & most cloned eprom have start with it as their base ... As above cutting the wire will help the fueling table , But get yourself a tuned muffler like Akrapovic , Leo Vince etc that have being through alot of Dyno testing to make sure its not just noise you are paying for & **** all power with flatspots through out the rev range !!

yip rp58 is an excellent chip until you fire on an open filter kit which then necessitates an aftermarket eprom.. tbh with the wee 3/4 length delkevic i have on mine i never had any issues with the rp58.. a very slight flat spot in the midrange but nothing so pronounced that it would have really bothered you...

now with the renegade and dr.rossi chip the top end rush is unreal, still fiddling with the bottom end.. syncing the throttle bodies tonight then setting the CO2 trim as soon as i get my hands on an EGA... which should sort out the low end, although even with the current setting from idle to 4k an aggressive roll on will have the wheel up no bother what so ever... albeit the transition from 0 to on throttle is quite snatchy atm..

Finally got a dry hour to test the bike. Opened the ecu box to discover the rp58 chip already installed, cut and sealed the blue/green wire. Took it for a wee spin, Jesus what a difference. Pulls like a train all through the rev range. Cheers lads.
