H....have you had one through this morning squire? :dunno

Police statement.....

"At about 1055 hours, on Sunday ** September 2008 I was engaged on Traffic patrol duites in the area of ******* in the county of West Sussex. I was using an unmarked Sussex Police motorcycle. This vehicle is fitted with a Provida camera system which incorporates a calibrated Police Pilot device. This is a Home Office approved speed detection device, which gives the speed of a moving vehicle.

I was using the vehicle to gather evidence of speeding vehicles and was working with the rest of my team wh were acting as uniformed stoppers on marked police motorcycles. At this time, I was travelling east on the A272 ahead of me I could see a group of 6 motorcycles.

I accelerated and matching the motorcycle's speed began to follow them. The video of the Provida system was switched to record.

Having travelled through an area known locally as ********* the group began to overtake slower moving traffic. I was immediately behind motorcycle index *******. As this motorcycle accelerated I observed it's front wheel lift in the air. The actions of the rider demonstrated that the wheelie was a deliberate act. The rider kept the front wheel lifted high for about 4 seconds. During this time the motorcycle had accelerated to about 80mph.

At this point the A272 is restricted to the national speed limit of 60mph for cars, car derived vans and motorcycles. I continued to follow the group east towards ******** as they overtook slower moving vehicles.

Between ******* and ******* I was immediately behind 3 of the group as they travelled at speeds between 90 and 95mph. The index number of the 3 motorcycles were ******, ****** and *******.

I was still behind these motorcycles as I saw them being stopped at the roundabout junction of the A272 and the *** in *********, by PC****** and PC********"

No offer of being able to view the supporting evidence of the tape, simply a summons form to complete.

The statement doesn't tally with what happened either.......neither does the supporting PC's statement tally with the one above, neither does my date of birth, or postcode, which the summons states was confirmed by viewing my driving licence :roll

Careless and Inconsiderate for me, together with Excess speed.

Is our fellow stoppee from Basingstoke still with us on the board?

Ride safe gents :thumbup

Yep, got mine. Watched the dvd they sent, nice wheelie there Cat'. Not totally convinced that's me on bike number three, looks way too smooth and stylish and with that plate half buried under the seat... Naa.. I've been framed. Off to get some legal guidance after the weekend to see if there any advantage in doing a runner. Good luck my man and try to look after those fork seals on landing, there a pain to replace.

Cheers.

Afternoon H squire :thumbup They sent a dvd with yours? Out of curiosity, how long does the video evidence run for. Does it stop before we reached the queue of cars before being stopped and at what point does it start?

You and I both on the legal guidance front sir. I'm guilty, no question on that one and i'm not going to deny it, but have they actually got a speed for you? (I realise it wasn't you really obviously :devious) I'm still a bit puzzled how with the speed recording equipment, a single unmarked bike can have taken your speed and our fellow stoppee. The policeman was right behind me so I expected a stated figure for me, but none stated in the summons.

I'd also be interested to see how close behind me the footage shows from said unmarked policeman and whether it shows the period prior to the events where he was coming up on either side of me and looking to attempt to pass at at least one point..........

Fair thee well Mr H.. hopefully we shall catch up soon :thumbup

Mr rs3mille sir, a load of old bollocks it certainly is, but the offences for me are a fair cop........honest guv :eatcorn

Hey Caterpillar is this you on the Video?:biggrin

Tut tut chris, no no no no no. That is what happens if you buy a GSXR and white boots :nana

I wouldn't be surprised if the unmarked police rider is one and the same however. The recorded evidence in our case should actually only show two incidences of breaking the speed limit, and i'd hazard a guess shows us riding considerately and conservatively for practically the entire time. Gasboy was with us after all. Hi Pete :biggrin

I reckon it was that bugger on the red new shape one up front toying around with cars :devious Are you out there Mr Fish sir? :thumbup

I know you were only joshing chris, no problems there squire :thumbup

Pretty sure we had a thread on Mr Collins when Sussex first put up the video, seeing as they were so proud of their achievement of allowing and promoting reckless endangerment to the general public in the quest for evidence and a solid conviction :roll

Keep it sunny side up chris :pirate

Hate to say it but the last place i would want to do 90mph + is the a272.

I used to use the road daily for work and it was speed trapped with regularity.
They have vascar points for the heli etc in places last ime i looked too.
It's a bummer you got caught Cat but 6am or somewhere else is probably the best bet of avoiding it again.
Few of my mates got caught coming off the A272 near Fittleworth last summer heading towards Bury Hill for a brew. One of them is Plod from Brighton and they nicked him too saying he should know better.
The Coppers who stopped him said the residents around there kick up merry hell about speeders (cars as well) hence why they have frequent clamp downs.

That numpty in MCN who records speeders and hands evidence to the police frequents the a272 area too and the road up from Fareham to Alton
