I was thinking of riding over in Germany cause my bird is German. But i was thinking what would happen if i got done for speeding. She says that if the pigs stop you you might have to pay a fine on the spot.
But as a Englander I don't get how that works, what if i don't have the money. Do they lock me up, take the bike?

I just wanna know what I can get away with. She says that if i get flashed they don't bother trying to send me a ticket to the uk?

Anyone know the score?

Fella,went to germany for the gp,**** weather,**** roads,just take it easy & keep off the main highways,stick to twistys(if you can find them)..:thumbup

sounds right to me i know that in holland they pull you make you leave the bike at the side of motorway and take you to the cop shop .just don't get caught doing any thing stupid and make sure you have all your documents on you:thumbup
 
In France the gendarmes frequent the toll booths and time you between them for your speed. I would imagine Germany is much the same

You get a fine and they drive you to a cash point if you can't pay.

The Garda in Spain always tell us they are not interested in what you do as long as you stay off the tourist routes.

lol, the only off road experience you had was on a a Raleigh Grifter jumpin off the curb. So don't give me **** about going fast in a straight line. LOL

Sorry Spoonz I think that is a complete myth - there is no provision in French law for "average speed" fines - the people you see nicked at toll booths are for other reasons - no insurance logo showing or seat belt or....they nick people for speeding up to the toll booths........limit always goes from 130kph to 110 to 90 to 70.....most people bowl up at 130 (or more, naughty naughty) and don't slow quick enough

Sorry, forgot to say in my previous post, don't know about germany but as plod seems to be more and more alike in every country........here in france if they stop you and you don't have the cash on you they will escort you to the nearest cashpoint and protect you from passing hoodlums while you draw out the cash to pay them.........they are SOOOOOOOO nice!! :roll

Back on the french tollbooth thing - I have even seen the nice little frogs en bleu on the roof of a toll booth with laser binoculars (apparently effective up to 400 metres)

Lucky its just binoculars they have and not a sighted bolt action rifle.
 
I did a week in ze fazerland in June, loved it, top twisties, loads of switchbacks, weather was 30 degrees plus all week (less 2 halestorms) and did not see any plod all week

Yes, if you are caught doing something against the traffic regulation outside of the UK and you are caught by the police, you will have to pay on the spot. It doesn't matter the country, you will have to pay if you do it in Germany, France or Spain. You only have to pay on the sport because you are a foreigner and otherwise it would be impossible for the administration to make you pay once you're back in your country. On the other hand, if a Gatso gets you speeding, I don't think you will get the fine send to your UK address.
 
correct sergi75..........not yet anyway..........the bas*ards are talking about unifying the various sytems so that we won't be able to get away with anything anywhere, but getting all the national speeding databases to talk to each other will hopefully take them a long time :rant
 
i have been told if correct or not but the the police in europe have already started to talk to one another about the lads who go over the boarder speeding then go back:eatcorn and that info came from relatives in holand:dunno if its true or not
 
Jacko, I am stationed here in Germany for over a year, with 2 speeding tickets and one indecent exposure ticket. all they do is flash you, you would have to be pissy drunk :p in order to get pulled over, hell the cops speed past me at times and i look down and see that i was speeding....

all they do really is flash you, i have never seen anyone pulled over here, why..they dont even have shoulder to pull you over on.
 
Don't worry about getting flashed by a Gatso either. The evil little bastards got me outside Calias and I never heard doodly.
 
Cheers for all the advice! So it looks like if i get flashed by a cam i should be ok. If the pigs get me I am ****** ! Sorted
