East Anglia that isn't it ? I think Croft, Cadwell and Mallory are the next closest. Oultons about 40 miles from me. I really really really want to try Angelsea. I've promised meself a track bike for the last 2 or 3 years. Never got round to it.

Eyyyy ows that, me conformation emails just come through.

Aye but Sparky's from Suffolk

I hate to admit it, cos of the corporate aspect, but the Silverstone GP layout now beats everything hands down. Make sure you do this at least once this year

that is one top photo rusty, deffo a banker fer years to come.... nice one.

First trackday of the year then, Nob - how'd it go? photo's? videos? :thumbup

Done Snetterton a few times in the past but not for a few years now as tbh I find it a bit dull even though it's fast. Cadwell's always been my favourite UK track, not that I've done that many so probably should reserve judgement. New Snett circuit layouts look promising though. Trouble is that the area is flat as a witches ***, so it somehow feels less involving!

Bad start, the Falco says no. Theirs frost on the roads and the T's tyres are nearly as bald as Garry. Hey ho its off to raz we go :-]

Lucky fooker. Here's me sitting in the office staring out the window (frost on the floor) but would still rather be out riding. Hope you had fun, post up the pics :bawling

Well it was emmotional. After me purpose bought bike letting me down I went on the T. Good job really as the track was a bit icey in the first session and it might of been a bit ropey on an unfamiliar machine. Its 30 odd miles to Oulton for me and a nice ride down the a49.
The first session was a bit twitchy but about 10 the track dried and it was magnificent for the rest of the day, but freekin freezing :crazy
Got a space in a garage with a good group of lads, all in the novice class which I decided to go in after I initially booked inters. Only me daft enough to ride to Oulton though. All the 'novices' had track bikes :rolleyes and a few of them had tyre warmers and rather large tool chests with them.
Any road they were sound and we had a laugh and their was some good spirited riding throughout the day. If their were 100 bikes there today I reckon only about 10% or 10 were riden there as a fully fledged road bike and I was the only Aprilia. The lack of novices was probably due to the time of year to be fair, cold and dark in the mornings etc. An advantage was that their was really 2 intermediate groups most like me, not a novice but not slow,[certainly not quick btw] so it was pretty even all day and thankfully hardly any crashes.
In all I had 6 sessions and did aboot 130+ miles of full on razing without any dramas.
The highlight of the day, their always is eh ?, was when I had a little tussle with an instructor. I don't know how hard he was pushing but I kept with him for a couple of laps and actualy managed to go around him at the bottom of Cascades and pull away untill Druids when he did me and promptly gave me a master class in track economy for the next 2 laps. While I thought I was the dogs bollox for 'skinnin' an instructor he was obviously just watching me and very kindly gave me a free lesson on how to do it propper. Much appreciated, and needed.
Even the ride home was ace, I took a little detour and it was fab riding leisurely in the sun on a beautifull crisp evening. Bring on spring.
So me 49 quid gamble paid off, its normally about £89 or over for the full circuit. Who'd of thunked we'd get a day like today after the bloody storms and rain over the weekend and yesterday. Sooper stuff.

No track piccies as yet but here's a garage door one,

Tell ya what though, 19 nicker to fill the T up :crazy
And the new db limit of 102 appears to be nationwide from what a few were saying today. I had the carbon Arrows on with the baffs in and they were 97db. Last time they were 104 without which was bang on the old limit for Oulton. So if I were you chaps I'd get a scrotey set of cans if you thinking of going tracking :thumbup

It is to be fair, I took a punt and it paid off. You don't realise just how much you love these bikes though till you get back out for a propper rip. Awesome machines.

Jealous as feck nob

Chuffed you had a good day

Thought it would be cold but at least it was dry

The bike looks good too

Following an instructor is a good thing, always lots to learn

Although when I did it on the first mondeo open day in 93 at knockhill they threw me off the track as i had it on two wheels :lol

fair play nob, glad you had a good day. cant quite see from the picture if your mirrors are off or if youve got bar end ones, also didnt you have to tape up all glass and plastic ? Apparently we do at cadwell !

Are you thinking of the Easytrack jolly in March?
It's only a "good idea" on their website, it's not compulsory.

Always take me mirrors off and put something over the front lights, tape whatever, but I've got painted protectors on at the mo.

yeah BF march 18th, i'll be there and cant wait, never ridden cadwell before so might tag along behind you and learn some lines ( mind you ive booked inters, i expect you'll be in the fast group ) The info on the tapeing up of lights wasn't from their website, it did say though if you do tape the headlights to remove the bulbs as it will melt the glue on the tape and make it a sod to get off, that true ??
