Technical question

Some of you may remember me asking about clocks and speedo sensors back along. After washing the bike the clocks went **** up. It pointed in the direction of the speedo sensor on the rear caliper. Sprocker had a similar problem but before I splash out on a new one I want to be sure exactly whats wrong. I tested for voltage between the green and blue/orange wires. Got 10 or so volts. So thats good. Tested between grey/white and blue/orange wires and got 7 or so volts, so thats a pass too. Then I turned the back wheel around to test the bolts going through the sensor and the volts should drop to zero as the bolts pass through. Well does anyone know if this should be a clearly defined drop straight to zero and stay on zero until the bolt has passed through or just a quick drop and then back up? I know its a boring question but I need to get this sorted:dunno Whilst doing all these tests nothing changes on the clocks. Its soooo frustrating:confused Thanks for any help or advice in advance. Hi BS I did the same checks and mine was faulty voltage readings. A new sensor has cleared the problem now :thumbup

If memory serves me correctly, I think the check with the bolt head in-line with the sensor should give a volt drop to zero for a second or so then back up again.

Do you know anyone who lives near to you with a RSV ? you could try their sensor before you go and buy another :dunno

Humm... after looking at that photo of your clocks it looks like it may be clock related ?

Unfortunately Sprocker I think you are probably right. I cant see how the sensor would cause my clocks to throw a wobbler like this. What were the symptoms of your faulty sensor mate?:dunno

The speedo was sat on zero with no fluctuations or missing characters as your clocks look to have :dunno

Ok cheers mate, gonna dis and reconnect the battery and see if that does anything.
