OK, we’re all back safe and sound!
But the day was not without it’s dramas, was it Kiwi RSVR and Hooked?
I met up with Mahoney and Kiwi RSVR at the scheduled time of 9am at the lay by just off the A21/A25. Stood around having a chat and all that and my phone rings, yes it’s Hooked and he’s only just dragged his *** out of his pit. ‘Gonna be late’ he says, so we agree to meet up further down the route much later.
Mahoney/Kiwi RSVR and I decided to pop down to Edenbridge BP station for a latte, I need a latte every 60 miles or so to keep up my awareness levels. Hooked, RS3Mille and two guys on a Blade and a CBR600 arrive at the BP station at around 10.15am ish, Latte’s all round and a few **** for Hooked.
We set off from the BP station at around 10.30am ish and had a great blast down the lanes, through the Ashdown forest, across to Heathfield, headed on down to a petrol station just outside of Battle for a fuel up before lunch in Hastings.
Kiwi RSVR’s bike (AKA Frankie) decides to spew out what looked like a few litres of fuel all across the forecourt, this is with Hooked having a *** only yards away. We managed to stem the flow of fuel by pinching the breather pipe, get this fixed mate cause it was giving me a headache all the way home, the smell of fuel when riding behind was rife.
So we arrived in Hastings and decided to grab some chips with a lovely topping of curry sauce, all washed down with a can of Coke, Yum Yum! 30 minutes later and after 3 **** for Hooked we’re off to our next destination – Rye.
Arrived in Rye after a few flappy corner moments hey Kiwi RSVR and a jostle with a few Germans in a camper van and a coach full of Dutch tourists on a hair pin bend. Stopped for around 40 minutes admiring the bikes and birds (Seagulls, just in case the better halves log in) then we set off to head home.
But we didn’t really did we Hooked!!
Instead Hooked led us all round to Dymchurch for yet another Latte and a good old gas about what leathers are best and what ones to avoid. Mahoney certainly seems to know his business well, noticed how you rated the Wolf leathers, shame I grew out of mine, if you know what I mean. LOL
OK here we go almost on the final leg. Headed for the A20 and had a real hoot, the A20 is an excellent road, it was certainly built especially for bikes. Stopped just 5 minutes from Leeds Castle for a final refuel, a coffee and Hooked managed to cram in 10 **** and a 5 minute exposure to the locals via the nearest tree! (See piccies below)
I peeled off at Leeds Castle and spent the next 30 minutes thinking of excuses to tell the missus on why I was getting home 2 hours later than I had said I would. Hope you all didn’t get in to too much trouble with your better halves, if you did then if we all just blame Kiwi RSVR leaking fuel everywhere then the story should cut it and bail you all out of the brown stuff.
Finally, it was really good to meet with you all again this forum is full of great guys all very talented riders too. I had a great day and hope you all did too, let’s do it again soon, perhaps we can head west along the coast this time and meet up with some of our forum neighbours.
