i could feel heat coming off the left hand side of my T at some traffic lights and a strange burning smell, was the same when i got home is this normally the way that the stator starts to fook up

Dunno about the stator but thats where the brown connector sits on my bike. might be worth a look at that just in case...

May be silly, but is the oil & water ok? My bike smelled a bit off the other week, and when I checked oil was rather low, so overheating.
Fingers crossed its something simple like that.

rico suggested that it maybe a coolant leak,
there is a stain on the coolant pipe running down from the bottom hose clamp i think that could be the cause

Slim, just a wee bit of input mucker. I've been caught in traffic on a really hot day a few times and had to move my right leg well forward from the peg because I thought it was going to melt my boot or fry my leathers, didn't have any untoward smell though.
