stator failure #2

I have an '08 Tuono R, and I now have had two stators fail. The first at 8k, the second at 12k just after the first major service when all systems checked OK. The first failed stator was replaced by a reputable shop with an OEM part from Italy. Very expensive and time consuming since the part came from Italy. That stator failed after only 2500 miles. I will replace that stator with a stator from Rick's Motorports which I am told is an improvement over the OEM part.
I have two questions; 1. Anyone have similar experiences? 2. What, if anything am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you got a duff one bud, only 2500 miles? I'd complain about that to the supplier/dealer.

it appears the fix du jour is a Rick's stator with wiring harness and hot shot rectifier. that setup is $140 for the stator, $150 for the rectifier, and $20 for the wiring harness. I've yet to hear from the shop, but I have talked to Rick's Motorsports Electric. They say that set up is their recommended fix and they've had good success reported back from customers. At this point I'm crossing my fingers, and preparing for other options such as another bike other than Aprilia. I have to conclude that the OEM part and set up is poorly designed/made and is crap. NO ONE I know of knows why the stators fail. AF-1 racing says change the oil/filter at 3K. Rick's says not necessary. ?????

First things first...
Check your engine number
If higher than 8176929 then you already have the 370w rotor.
If lower, look to replace your 500w with the later 370w

The Ricks stator and series reg/rec are not a particularly good fix.

I'll check with the shop on the number. I gather Aprilia realized the 500 watt rotor was a bad fit and changed to the 300 watt some time between 2008-09. Why is the Rick's not an effective solution?

Tifa, as I am mechanically challenged, what are the consequences of the replacement stator being 500watts? I know the replacement part is a Rick's stator. They state "built to. OEM specifications".
