Speed detection system for bikes

yep, just got one ordered, been looking at them for a while but this thread has made my mind up, cheers :thumbup

Seeing as I'm back on the road this year, after 3 years racing, I'll be investing in one. Just got to get another Mille now!

Fitted mine this morning pretty easy i thought, then off i went rather unusually in search of speed cameras so far so good went to two cameras that were local and it picked up both well in advance, so up to date i can well reconmend....:thumbup

Shame they cannot detected this unmarked ******cars and BIKES shame they dont nick the prats on mobiles:angry:angry

Mine arrived yesterday. I've just registered it, downloaded the latest updates and set the parameters. Now, I see from Sprockers piccies (and STL's comment) that some have installed the GPS under the screen. No problems with that then? Is that where most of you have fitted it? Inforad recommend fitting on the front mudguard :biggrin. I don't think so!

We've all rushed and bought this; you'd think we were planning to break the speed limit wouldn't you? :devious

mines mounted under the heavy black tinted screen and goes to green after about 5 seconds, so no probs there.

As for why we have them, as the authorities would say their camera's are ONLY positioned at accident black spots and so being the vulnerable road users we are, we have a warning system fitted to let us know when we are near one :D

Thanks for that Beanie. That settles it then, under my lightly tinted screen it goes.

I just love your response about a warning system :thumbup

I like that :laugh

After spending quite some time on Sunday fitting mine, (there was no room under the front fairing cos of the HID unit there), I decided a good long run to the east coast via Suffolk was the plan for Monday. ( know, any excuse). Great, the route we chose was devoid of cameras for about 3 hours. When you want a camera you can't find one. I eventually found one in a town and can confirm it does what it says on the packet. The only thing was, I couldn't approach faster than the speed limit due to traffic, so will go out today to play again to see the flashing red light. That is, after washing the bike. It's got half of Suffolk sticking to it. It only rained on the way back. That wasn't so bad but the blustery winds were a bit grim.

I forgot to add, I patched mine in to the lights circuitry so it is automatically switched off when I turn my ignition off.

There's a clearence bargains shop 2 mins from my house (Exactly the same retailer) I will pop in and see if there any cheaper in store. Its an Argos end of line/factory discount franchise.

Me too, cos I'm going to look, with a view to buying, a factory tonight. Can't wait!!

That'd be great .. been pondering getting one for a while then when I go to buy one... sods law :dunno

Done!

Fitted mine to the factory today, good job, tied it into the fuel pump switched feed. I located the warning lamp on the LHS of the speedo, and the GPS unit on the top of the ram air tube, it works under the painted screen bit too.

The processor unit is under the rear passenger seat with my PCIII on top of that. it's a bit cramped in there but it will be fine. Piccies to follow if I get my digicam fixed soon.

I've not tried it yet, but the thing locks on OK, so that's a start.:doug

I have already put 6 Mobile camera sites into it, so it will be interesting to see if it brings up a warning.

By the way ensure you have the trip function turned off otherwise plod would be able to see where you were....ahem....breaking the law.....maybe.....perhaps......

been trying to decide where to put the unit on my bike, i know where i am putting the light & gps but not too sure where to put the unit itself:dunno, the problem being that under the rear seat cover I already have the alarm, disc lock & tool kit.

where have you guys fitted yours:confused
