Speed Camera Vans

Howdy all

Just got back from a bank holiday blast. On the A2 in kent, just past H's cafe (honda garage) dover bound there was a speed camera van. Spotted it just as I came over the hill and slammed on the anchors, passing it @ 56mph - but they work at quite a distance so suspect they would have got coming over the hill.

Been doing a bit of googling and cant find a definitive answer. This was a forward facing camera, but I read that the operator is allowed to make a note fo the numberplate and submit as evidence, and that there are a few vans with two cameras to get bike number plates.

So question for you all - Does anyone actually know for sure? Has anyone been got by such a forward facing van?

I know i need to wait 2 weeks but its bugging me.

I totally agree. Sensible being the key word. This van was located soon after the exit of the honda garage, a popular meeting place, where you join the m/way from a very short slip road and so are forced to accellerate hard to get on the road. Admittedly you should stop accellerating, but the placement is obviously for money making catching people doing exactly this. Ive lived in the area all my life and have never known of an accident there.

I believe speed where its appropriate, i.e. a clear motorway, is sensible.

Anyway im not after a debate on that, just an answer to the Q.
