Snapped chain laxatives

Another **** Regina chain.Could'nt help noticing the rust inside the roller where the pin goes.Hmm,..I thought the purpose of the 'o' ring was to keep the factory lube in and muck,*****,moisture out??
Rico man,you were lucky there that the flapping chain did'nt cause more damage to the bike and yerself.Years ago,I saw a guy carted off to hospital after a broken chain cut his leg to shreds.Nasty business.

aye KB yer right...I wiz surpirsed how rusty the inner pins were despite all the lube it get...mibbe o ring chains arn,t really as good as we awe think if as the original lube will eventually leech out and theres next tae nae chance o gettin it back in there unless wi some sort o pressure....

...ahm changin tae a mair oily lube frae now on that will mibbe seep intae the centre mair. Hecs chainsaw lube sounds the way mibbe

At work we often inspect and relubricate crane wires an the same problem ocurs there. Looks bonny, shiny and lubed on the outside but the inner cores can be red rotten wi rust!

I have heard the " X " type chains are better and as long as it is lubricated often even the old Renolds will last as long.

Rico, I use an artist paint brush to oil the chain. When you spin the back wheel after oiling you will hear the difference (quieter) and it looks like pizza being pulled apart . When you see it you will know what I mean.
To clean the wheel use clean oil (cheap and protects but collects dust) or Mr Sheen :thumbup

A good idea is to clean the chain with clean oil , and wipe dry before applying a new coating of oil .
Not every time but frequently depending on how often you ride.

Mark down how often you adj. the chain .
