:eek: Can someone please point me in the right direction for the sidestand mod? Came out of the in-laws the other day and the Mille was resting into a fence on it's left hand side. Weird thing was the thing was balancing on the side stand with the rear wheel off the ground.

Couldn't believe it but it only snapped the mirror off and a tear in a brand new (typical) decal on the rear pod. How lucky is that?>

Weird, think some jealous ****** :jack has pushed it over but want to change/mod the stand anyway now as I'm nervous. cheers
 
Bubsywoo makes them, try sending him a pm :thumbup not seen him on here for a while and i think he also sells them on e-bay.

I think a gsxr1000 stand will fit with a little modification...alledgedly.. lol but dont go bying one of those without someone elses confirmation :biggrin

Gsxr stand on mine and Garin's Tuono plus many others.

Other option is Us stand/bracket which is completely different lenght/angle to european versions.

Not liked the welded head ebay designs since i saw this

Thanks fellas, think the Gixxer's the way to go. I had a K5 600 and the stand was spot on thinking about it.
 
i have welded an extension to the foot (1") and reinforced it with bit of rod up to the foot deploying bar(?)
in an attempt to stop bike toppling over stand (particularly on full tank) seems to work, but i will try and source cheap gsxr stand at some point :)
 
Hi guys, is it just a case of swapping the stands over or is there more to it than that??!!

seconded, why/how do the standard ones allow so much movement anyway, if feels as if the 2 flanges off the frame are opening up, not anything to do with the actual stand?
They must have run out of cash at the factory after all the money spent on the beautiful frame & swingarm! :inlove
 
If I remember right, weld the bolt holes up re drill and tap the thread so the aprilia bolt fits and drill a pilot hole for the side stand switch. you need the need the Gsxr spring.
 
If you use the gsxr bolt you only need to weld one side up and re cut the thread (back side). on the front side just drill it out a bit. You have to do this because the gsxr stand bolt fits from the back. The rsv requires it to fit from the front so you can mount the sidestand switch on it.

you also just have to add a spot of weld on the bracket stand stop otherwise the stand just misses it and goes 5mm too far. As the stand head is cast it welds really easily.

If you don't have access to what you need welding/tap wise send it to me and i'll do it if you cover the postage.
 
was going to fit the gsxr stand to mine but don't have access to a welder so will give it a miss. Thought it might be a swop over and all done. Shame
 
Being a lazy ******* with no access to welding tools I think I will have to suffer for now.
Might get hold of one over the winter for preparation.

OK I have this stand

It looks the same so Guess its the right stand. However, when I offered it up last week to the bike the gsxr bracket that has the swtich on, hit the engine and I could not line the bolts up. Does the the switch mounting need to be removed or is it the wrong one?

If its the right one, Spoonz, could I take you up on your offer or sorting it out for me? I will also include a beer :thumbup
