Sidestand mod......Advice needed!!

Alright all....

I've just fitted the GSXR stand that Colin modded for me (thanks very much again Spoonz). Can anyone advise me on a couple of points? 1) does the sidestand switch slightly foul the lower fairing? 2) should it sit at more of an angle than the original?

It seems as though the bike sits (possibly) even more upright than before!!!! and the switch fouls my lower fairing slightly????

Oh and the stand light on the dash remains on all the time now (may just need cleaned though????)..........have i done something wrong??? As far as i can see it can only be mounted in one position, or am i being a ****???!!!

Any help appreciated.

Andi, mate!!

Sounds like you've had a day of it today.

Carbon ears fitment and now the stand problems.

Wish I could help but the sidestand mod is way down the list for me and when I do it it will be a Bubseywoo one as they are the muts nuts.

Yeah mate....not been a great day!! Just can't understand the stand prob as so many folk have done it??? It actually sits EVEN MORE upright than before!!!

B*stard thing ! ! !

I got an 04 bike and done the GSXR stand mod, i had to cut off an inch of the bottom and weld the foot back on the stand, hassel i know but i now have a superb spot on side stand

I had one of the first bubseywoo stands but they are week and his broke, he offered me a new improved one.......NEVER got it and i got fed up in emailing him

Thanks BB1000.......Out of interest, does your switch foul the lower fairing too??

andi - not sure about the GSX-R stand as I've fitted a Bubseywoo one but think I know your stand warning light problem. The switch does not actually have a fixed position so loosen it off and then rotate it while watching the lamp go on and off - you'll soon suss the right position and then just bolt it up there.

Sorry, not sure if that's clear, I mean the rotating part of the switch rather than the body.

I found the k1 gsxr stand needed to be shortened as mentioned by about an inch also when getting the foot welded back on its better to rotate the foot round about 45 deg so that it does not stick out so much when retracted and to get a small weld on the front of the slot just to stop it going a bit to far forward when deployed, the sidestand switch outer should locate on a peg (toward front) and the inner pin should locate in a hole drilled into the stand (maybe this is in the wrong place?) does that all make sense :)

Maybe your stand is longer Andi but i didn't shorten mine at all or mod the switch. My stand was a k3 1000 gsxr. I didn't compare it's length to mine to say if it was longer or not.

I tried your stand with my switch and it worked fine unless your switch is different which i doubt.

Cheers all,

A303....i'll try the switch today, sure it'll be an easy fix.....

Majorjam.....I'll give that a bash also...thanks

Spoonz,....i'm sure the switch will be fine, just maybe need to shorten it a wee bit and suss out the switch location to stop it (ever so slightly fouling) the lower fairing.

I'll get there!!.............Cheers again all

Cheers TT.........fingers crossed!! Just need to find a welder near me to do it!!

Have recently fitted a bubseywoo(Gary's stand).Great improvement. However the weld? joint looks a bit suspect to me.It's either an aerated weld or some kind of two pack cement is used.Any one else?AL

just watch it carefully. a few of those stands have fractured at the head and the bike fallen over.

Been using mine for about six months now and it's fine (touchwood!) but know what you mean and I do keep an eye on the weld.

mine sits on a paddock stand constantly, the side stand is anbout as much use as a trapdoor on a canoe
