Sidestand broken what next!!!

Noticed when I bought the bike that once the sidestand was flicked up could not put your foot on anything to get it bsck down again so here is a small fix.

The little nob that usually protrudes out so you can get your toes on it had snapped off so tapped out a 5mm hole where the break was as a slight angle


Then get a long allen key bolt and wind it in till it tightens up I used some threadlock aswell in case it vibrated loose.

Drilling at a slight angle keeps bolt away from the road but enough gap to get ur foot on it!!!


 
same on mine i just drilled a hole through that stump right through and added a 80mm m6 iirc bolt with a locking nut either side plus a sleeve and also added a rear paddock stand bobbin too so its all good again.

i can find it now while sat on the bike

Yes when I come across a longer bolt think I'll put that on with sommat on the end as this ok to put stand down when off the bike but still a little tricky whilst sitting on it still................

Looks good mate.... tell you the truth after doing the headlights last night in the garage freezing cold, that bolt was really the first thing that I got me hands on.
I shall have a good root about tonight and see what better contraption I can come up with for dropping the stand whilst still on the bike..........watch this space................

Ok onto the next job............any1 got any pics of how thay have updated/improved their brown rectifier plug situation????
Looked on the how to's but no real good pics???

I have researched this one to death.... have a look on my "winter mods list" which is kicking around ;)
 
Updated sidestand catch

Ok so after a good root through my bits n bobs last night found this spare alloy coathook which will serve the purpose got a shorter stainless allen key bolt.......Countersunk the rear of the hole on the coathoook to sit over the broken dome on the sidestand then shoved a star washer in to bite into the alloy hook so it won't twist and here it is


Now it is very accessible for your heel when sitting on the bike.:biggrin

I have another problem, sidestand touches the ground when cornering, so I have to remove it on tracks :), What to do?

Your sidestand shouldnt touch before your rear sets. Are you sure it is the right stand for bike? Got any pictures of it happening?

I`v not tracked the RSV yet, so had no problems, but you could do what I do, just keep going until it files down enough it doesnt touch anymore :thumbup
 
Which part of ur stands grounds out whilst cornerin..........if its the original bar that was welded on which was bporke off mine you would better to cut it off and drill a hole 5.5 or 6 mm depending on what fixing size you want to use then sort out a system that is good for you on how to use and mount.......if you use ur bike a lot for trackdays I would use a fixing that you can easily remove with handy tools .....just an idea

I got many bits n bob's boxes trouble now is finding a bit amongst the hoarded crap............I tell ya its challenging ...............but then again rewarding when u come up trumps :biggrin

No if its happening mid corner (when you not powering out of the bend) thats a bad idea (unless its when you are flicking from side to side) Just make sure you rider sag is set right. If it is and you want to raise the rear abit more look into jack up plates, or you could mod it as "stroke says. Personally I would just do a few laps with it scraping lol. At speed it wont take long to file away, but then sooner or later you just end up scuffing your belly pan anyway. Doh!

Oh hanging off the bike more can help too.
