Side stand advice

I know...I wondered if it had been missed with you drawing diagrams to assist...only try to help having gone through the same dilema hence I produced those photos.

I think I'll bite the bullet and buy the Honda cbr1000rr stand, as soon as I can make it to a Honda dealer

Measured mine today at 22cm (+/- 0.5cm), from base of foot to center of bolt. Mines dead straight (without bend as some units have). So, is that standard or upgraded?
- Either way it's pretty stable in my view, unless parked on an adverse camber, but that will be a problem for both types if bike lean angle not affected.

I've just swapped side stand over to the Honda blackbird stand, first impressions are good, the foot of the stand is much further from the centreline of the bike, the stand length is now 250mm, the standard stand was only 220mm, bolt centre to base, all I have left to do to finish the conversion is to drill the hole for the side stand switch, I wanted to see it fitted first. Not a bad upgrade at only £12.99
Thanks to all of you who made the suggestions and gave advice on what to use etc, I now feel much more confident in the stand

Good info. Is £12.99 really the main Honda dealer price for a new unit (???) or did you manage to get a good bid on eBay?

Any photos appreciated!

Found it on eBay, buy it now, just the bare leg though, luckily nothing else is needed, i.e no switch or mounting plate

Removed stand to drill the hole for the switch tang to fit in, refitted everything and now have a good stand with a stand down safety switch

I'm in the process of trialling a st1100 side stand, I've got a pan, it seems slightly shorter than the blackbird stand, the pan springs are required together with a 1.5mm thick m12 washer as a spacer on the stand pivot , of course this too needs the stand switch mounting hole drilling. I'll let you know the result when the job is complete.
