are the maxton shocks any good like, its the first time ive come across em, looks a bit gay with a purple spring tho
Best way to guage "good" is visit any club race paddock,Irish road race, the IOM or anywhere bikes get ridden very fast and see how many riders fit them.
Yes they are GOOD, I had my SV front end rebuilt by them, night & day difference, If I hadn't just bought the Mille one of their rear shocks was going on to compliment the front, now I'll concentrate on this.
Give Richard a bell at Maxtons and get knowledge from probably the most respected family in British suspension circles (Ron Williams ring any bells,as in Honda HRC ,IoM TT history) he will see you right.
Sorry, came over a little evangelical there didn't I, but truly they DO know suspension and trying to get a place in the queue is sometime difficult as they tend to get very busy at certain times of the year.
It's not unheard off for people in the know to take brand new top of the range Ducs,Hondas Yams etc straight from the showrooms and have Maxton strip the suspension out and replace the innards with their own cartridges etc.
Good thing is,your suspension gets built for YOU, the way you ride,on what type of roads, and to suit the type of tyres you use. It really is that personal, plus all their gear is fully rebuildable.
Think of this way, you could join the herd and get common yellow units, mass produced off Yamaha's shelf ( Yeah OK, I know Kent Ohlins has bought his company back now, but it's been mass produced by Yamaha for years) or a bespoke unit that's built & set up to suit YOU personally.
Difficult choice? Not for me, if you have a question you just get on the phone & talk to the man that built the unit, he can just check the records to see your unit specs and advise accordingly.
Give Richard a ring and have a chat? Just noticed your forum name,Maxton were rather well respected for their Firestorm suspension upgrade as I recall :thumbup
