As soon as I reach 125mph the front of my bike starts to shake? It done that since I've had it about 6 months now, I tried going a bit over that the other day got to 130 and it basically stayed the same, any thoughts :dunno

Yep fooking slow down!!!!

Have you checked that everything is tight up front? ie: head bearings, forks, wheel spindle.

I think your first diagnosis is probably right, it sounds like a nut loose on the handlebars! ;)

Rob :)

Could be but why does it wait until that speed to let you know? Might be more than one thing? I had an issue with a wobble at speed with a car and turned out to be a moulding issue with the tyre in the end. Took a lot of head scratching to track down.

I have the exact same problem... I hit 125mph... then sometimes I ride through it and other times I back off and it fine. It seems to be better on different road surfaces....

It's so annoying I get up to speed and know I have to back off before it starts :confused

Had this years ago, the problem was the steering damper bushes were partially seized up, take it off and make sure it is all working freely, my bet is that is the problem you guys are having.

I went through all the checks of head bearings etc etc. and simply that was all the problem was.

Let me know how it goes

Hi badger, I have a 05 1000r non factory model and I have not got a steering damper... was this only standard on the factory?

Definetly not any quick fix, I had a word with my mechanic he says it could be the bearings also, I'll get it to him maybe at the weekend and see what he recons

The mechanic did ask if the front tyre was worn but it's still got plenty to go

The car tyre I mentioned earlier in this thread that I had trouble with, was not worn, it was new. The 'wobble' it caused was down to a fault in manufacture of the tyre that was not visible. When the tyre was changed the fault disappeared.

Suppose that would be a good excuse to the wife to get a new set :)

Yeah...try letting go of the bars altogether at 125mph...see how she goes....
