hi guys just tried to start my rsv1000r after few months in storage and when press starter it just clicks so got new battery and now when press starter nothing happens tried few batterys and all same every thing works ok but wont turn over any idears any one regards mike

Have you tried push starting the motorcycle, just to make sure the engine fires up?

Assuming the battery is good, based on you trying a new one, the next thing I would check would be the starter and/or the spark plugs.

Another culprit might be the fuel. Before putting it in storage, did you treat the fuel? Was good fuel used?

If it was me, I would push start it, to see if the motor starts up again. May need a buddy to help you, or find a downhill area to roll the moto.

Is the engine not turning over at all? I'd take the plugs out, stick it in gear and try to turn the engine over by spinning the rear wheel. If it's seized up then try squirting some WD40 into the cylinders.

It also might be a poor connection to the battery or the starter motor. Try removing the connectors, cleaning them up and then reattaching them nice and tight. Very difficult to diagnose without seeing it!

hey, had the similar problem. I had bad starter relay, it clicked but didn’t “switch on”.

With a clicking sound, you should check your connections to the starter to ensure they are tight and clean. Also, check your ground connection from the battery to the engine/frame. If you bypass the solenoid to the starter you will know it is the solenoid.

Jerx is completely correct .... bad starter relay. Replace with one from Rick`s Motorsports. It`s an upgraded unit and better that the stock Aprilia relay. Also if you have any issues with your charging circuit it will kill your battery as well as the starter relay and possibly screw up your sprag clutch with bad or weak starts. Oh an by the way ... unless you are the Hulk ... you ain`t bump startin no Aprilia RSVR! This ain`t no in line 4 cylinder with small pistons you can put the bike in 2nd or 3rd and bump. The pistons in the RSVR are the size of your fist and need a strong battery to spin up.
