service history

Missed out on griff's last trip up north due to work so will see when he's next around, when i bought it (private) it had just had major service by you know who!, so i changed all filters/fluids and plugs to make sure.so hopefully will be ok till next year! As for round here i just dont know my mate owns a local bike shop but dunno if its his cup of tea. I usually go by the notion if its running ok leave it alone!!

no worry's mate cheers, just wondered if im worrying to much about these valve's

just a quicky buddy but in my service book it has something like it but I noticed that some ***** has recorded the kmh not mph which makes one service look odd as the next one and mot shopw lower miles. doesnt bother me on mine as its a cracking 2 tone yellow mean machine and its staying, well until the next mille I fall in love comes a long :lol

anysways, just a thought

IMHO I think you have no case, The mileage is nearly always dismissed as being "Not verifaible" Most car dealers put a sticker on the speedo to that affect.

You bought the bike in the same way I do, buy them based on their condition as you can't hide a hard life (Just look at Ron Wood) I have heard all the stories about new bodywork etc on track bikes but If you look for the signs you will see them.

Get on with enjoying your bike or take it back and get a good PX on another, I am guessing you got it from M&S ?

Oops looks at Picture :)

Yeah, Garvey makes a good point - just disconnecting the battery will reset your clocks to KMH so that could well be where the error occured. 10K isn't a lot for a Mille mate so from a keeping it point of view I wouldn't worry as you're happy with it. You should be able to get some cash back from them though - if they won't play ball, threaten them with Trading Standards, Watchdog and your local paper.
As for servicing, as we say on here: Griff'll sort you out.

ditto. One of my mots has the mileage in km. Pain in the arse but you can't expect normal garages to know which buttons to press i suppose

thanks for the reply's , with the regaurd to the 10,000 miles showing at the mo, but back in early 2006 it had 9000 and in 2003 had nearly 8000, and me buying it with 8000 in may this year, i just cant get my head around just how many miles is on it,

after a heated talk with the salesman , i then spoke to a manager, who agrees with the state of affairs, they are basically inviting me to get another bike from them, at a loss of 400 quid for the 2000 miles ive stuck on it.
i did hit home about money back , but there was no reply to that one, i think a threat of exposing this might be needed,
im still peed at mo
cheers

Mate, I wouldn't get too upset - sounds like they didn't deliberately mis-lead you and you've still got a lovely bike. One thing that did get results for me was telling a company I was posting about them on the forum - that got their attention!

looking at the history the bike it had done nearly 6000 miles in 2006, and in 2008 when ducati wolverhampton either sold it or serviced it , it had 9336, you dont have to be a mathematition to work out wtfk happened to the miles when i bought it this year with just under 8,000 miles

i have put 2000 miles on since may so now reads 10,000, dont get me wrong i love the bike compared to any jap one ive had, but now think i havnt got the genuine low miler i thought i had,:rant

Maybe the clocks were in KM's for the first two services :dunno

6000 Km.......3750 Miles

9336 Km.......5835 Miles

Then a genuine 8000 Miles for the third service :dunno

It's a possibility, and the garage tech's for the first two services may not have noticed it was in KM's :dunno and looking at the milages it would seem it was serviced every 2000 mile or so :thumbup

Thats what i'd tell the next owner :pirate

yes it is a lovely bike , but its tarnished with this cr@p, to be honest , i dont really want to part with it, but feel there getting away with it, just thought i was buying a minter,

and the funny thing is they have another mille in, 2001 with 15000 miles with history, 3750, and in yellow, yet it looks no where near the condition of mine, the saga continues
cheers

no mot 2008 to 2009
2nd owner bought it with 9322 miles on confirmed by ducati wolverhampton today on the 1/8/2008 and he supplied no mot to the dealer i bought it from who acquired it in jan 2009, i think he track used it for 6 months, after smashing it in his first month of ownership , different clocks fairings ect... hence the 8000 miles showing in january this year when he traded it in just my oppinion

Do you know for definate that ducati wolverhampton didn't misread the milage as KM :dunno if they did misread it then all the milages would work out correctly..and do you know for definate if the second owner tracked it and binned/replaced clocks etc :dunno

definately something up

if we say that the last service 31/7/2008 9322 klms or 5792 miles

a definate mot stamp in august 2007 7115 miles tally's up with the 9322 in miles not the lesser 5792

its a bummer
